Everyday people should be able to organize freely in our own self-interest without fear of state repression. Engaging in peaceful organizing, protest, and criticism of the government and the current social order are our rights, and essential to democracy and freedom. But the right to organize is under attack under the Trump administration. DSA condemns the House of Representatives’ Committee on Oversight and Government Reform targeting socialist, communist, anti-war, pro-union and pro-Palestinian groups.

Right-wing officials are cynically and without evidence blaming the Left for the rise of political violence, using it as an excuse to try to stifle our growing power. They’re once again changing the subject from the ongoing genocide in Palestine, the state violence on immigrants, and the everyday violence of poverty, and they’re blaming the Left for the cruel and unequal world they are creating.

We aren’t scared, and we won’t stop organizing. We stand with all those being unfairly targeted by the Trump administration. Together, we’ll build a world where everyone is free.
