With reddit banning fosscad/diy related subs, folks are seeking alternatives. I'll try to keep a list of the more active ones in this thread, and of course we welcome content here as well.

Oh shit, r/fosscad got banned? I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Yep, and a couple others as well. Some of the remaining are getting repeated "Rule 7" flags on things that clearly don't violate anything, so they're on the chopping block as well.

As a user who has been on Lemmy since the Reddit API nonsense, I welcome you to the platform as well Sado.

Thanks! Not my first go on Lemmy, this is just my fosscad persona. Reddit is shitting all over what made it popular and driving folks away in droves.

Might be time for puts? calls? (whichever one bets against the stock, I was never any good at the market) on RDDT.

i'm wondering at which point lemmy is gonna need some lawyers. and how we might want to defend ourselves.

Ideally, they shouldn't. There is nothing illegal about designing a firearm or firearm accessories. Manufacturing them depends on your location and applicable laws, but they're the same laws that govern store-bought or private transaction purchase of commercially manufactured arms.

Lemmy, being decentralized and community driven, has no culpability for the discussion of lawful and (at least in the US) protected activities.

Even discussion of unlawful activities are protected by the US 1st amendment. But it does depend on how much people stand up for that right.
