He's not screwing up. He's doing exactly what he has planned. The weird part is why, for some reason, all these professionals in media can't seem to grasp what is happening and describe it as this big confusing event that keeps happening where the "ceasefire" just almost happened, but somehow it all blew up at the last minute, there's some blame on both sides, and anyway long story short we lost a few thousand more Palestinians which of course wasn't the intended result, no one wants that.

I think they know very well what's happening, and they think we're stupid (and often they're right). And, of course, they'll get in trouble if they report it honestly, so they put their heads down and report that the ceasefire failed again, and the world moves on.
