It's so refreshing to see France, and more broadly the West, having its own rhetoric used against it. This time it comes from the victim and is actually true instead of being an empty projection. The same nation that "they should to be grateful towards", in the neocolonialist Macron's words, is complicit in a continuing regional proxy insurgency beginning in Mali in 2007 (funnily enough, the same year that AFRICOM was founded) that only snowballed following the 2011 NATO invasion of Libya. The AES are rolling out military equipment and increasing spending + training at a rapid pace, and Burkina Faso's military spending alone has practically doubled since 2022. Though so far we are still only bearing witness to the early phase of the AES, as complete national liberation will take time. Even the soon-to-be rump statelet of Ukraine is now doing much of the West's dirty work in Africa, a useful testing ground for drone warfare in its own proxy conflict..
