There are some books and long texts that I would like to print since reading on electronic devices is distracting. Anyone of you has does this before?

I remember in college there were talks of how some print shops could print textbooks for you given the pdf but I never had to do that.

Here in India, media is a tool of the fascists. I am ashamed to say it but the concept of journalistic standards is alien to the audience here. The media literally parrots the IOF line, to such a degree of precision that makes me think that I underestimated the sheer evil that can exist in the heart of human beings.

But India is a kind of a special case in the Global South, since its an Islamophobic Hindu fascist state and the preposterous IOF talking points slot well with the racist talking points.

But I am wondering what the situation is like everywhere else. Please fill me in.

Anyone tried it? Thoughts?

spoilerLooks like it is gonna be your typical Persona type game with element based turn based combat and social links. Don't mind that though. Always welcome fresh Persona slop.

There are some mechanic changes which seem nice.

The game kinda turns the concept of fantasy around where the protag holds dear a fantasy book, but the fantasy is essentially a story of our (human) world. And the powerful boss monsters in the game are called humans. Personally I don't like this. I find it a bit immersion breaking. But maybe it will grow on me.

And yeah the performance on my laptop feels a bit lacking. Only a gtx 1650 and i5 processor but the game cannot consistently maintain 60 on low or intermediate graphics. I will try it on PS5 later and see if it runs well.

I downloaded it a few days ago. My first impression is good so far. I don't like strategy games because of monke brain but with this one I've been having fun.

The battle system is novel as far as I know. At first I was a bit disappointed that you don't get to control individual characters but I've grown to like the system since then. I am playing on "tactical" difficulty and I retried the first battle three times to get it "right".

It has the usual JRPG (a little bit nauseating) pro-monarchy premise which TBH I don't mind in fantasy settings, but it feels tired and uncreative. But I have been able to look past that because the rest of the game is fine. The animations look really nice without needing much sophistication. The English voice acting was a bit cringe so I switched to the Japanese one.

I don't know if the game will be able to grab me till the end (unlikely because of commitment issues) but it is a nice surprise to be sure.

CW: I talk about sexual harrasment and paedo-adjacent content of the game.

In the past I have played Persona 5 and Persona 3 Reload. I am currently playing Persona 5 Golden. I feel this game would be better off if the main characters were college students of college age rather than high school students without having to change the basic formula of the game much.

Reasons why I think so:

  • College-aged people struggle with self-discovery just as much as high school students.
  • Can still play as a mute pussy magnet.
  • The central premise of playing as a transfer student attending an educational institution can remain intact.
  • Clubs and sports still exist for social link inserts.
  • Persona games often deal with mature themes, which college age students can understand and process better than high school students.
  • Rampant sexual harrasment against the female characters is slightly less detestable because it is now being done to people of legal age rather than 16-17 year old children.
  • Can preserve the premise of the Heirophant arcana, where you live under the care of a non-parent guardian.
  • Several cases of exceptional students become easier to digest. For example, the police being assisted by ace detectives aged 20-22 is more believable than by ace detectives aged 16-18 (Naoto and Akechi)

Cons:

  • I don't know how the classroom sequence would work since colleges have a wider variety of classes with more agency for the students. Perhaps the MC could be the joker because there is a certain discipline like physchology that they are very well versed in and that is hardcoded in.
  • Less appeal to paedophiles.

In general I don't know if I have the confidence to suggest that college students are that much more mature than high school students. For me personally I felt I growed the most after college. But age is definitely a factor and for some people a few years can make a lot of difference.

I'm vaguely aware of what single sign on is. Though I don't use it, it seemed non-intrusive. The most you would see buttons to login through Google, Facebook etc.

Now some sites have an entire banner pestering you to sign in through your Google account. It has a big continue button that takes you to Google and the button to close is a small x in the corner. On mobile this banner takes up a third of the screen.

Why do this?

This is what happens when you rely on American tech companies. Apple is pulling shit with Europe, the home of "civilisation", that feels like it's straight out of a stupid reality show over regulations regarding sideloading and privacy. And clowns like this will regurgigate the dumbest and the most worn-out libertarian shit in first tier media outlets.

Tbh I don't get the point behind GDPR. Is it genuinely meant to ensure privacy to some extent or is it just some form of protectionism against American tech companies?

I was vaguely aware that shit like this happened in these game but reading the exact mechanisms was gut wrenching.

The c-suite for this game should be summarily executed.

the president said the Chinese prices were "unfairly low" due to the government subsidising companies "who don't need to worry about making a profit".

"They're cheating," Mr Biden said. "And we've seen the damage here in America."

China is Australia's largest trading partner, both in terms of total volume and trade balance. Despite this they join military alliances against China and fester rabid Sinophobia among themselves. It is not suprising considering that Australia is an American vassal state but I wonder what the consequences of this will be in the far-future.

Read the replies to the Hyperloop tweet to see what a neoliberalism-poisoned PhD brain and its worshippers looks like. Gems like "the idea would have been viable with infinite money" and that the point of failure was the tunneling, which is literally the first step of the whole concept.

Hard to tell how much is pro-Palestine

Highly likely that being pro palestine is a non-factor in this whole thing

It's not an eye for an eye though. Israeli atrocities over the decades dwarf what has been inflicted upon them by Palestine and Hamas.

Look, I’m a trial judge. I am not anyone that understands the industry and the markets in the way that you do. And so I take seriously when companies are telling me that if this gets disclosed, it’s going to cause competitive harm.

Not sure what a trial judge is but he sounds way in over his head.
