I was surprised and pleased to learn today that we had two key democrats.

Yawn. Wake me when it’s JD Vance and Mike Johnson. Not a single republican in the USA gives a shit about what 2 key democrats think.
No Democrat is a key Democrat if they don't have the balls to do what is necessary
Like what, exactly?
Doing things in a democracy requires votes, and they didn't have them.
The American people decided they wanted Trump with a Republican Supreme Court, Republican House, and Republican Senate.
Let's blame the Dems for everything they do.
That makes sense if you forget about the last thirty years and also common sense. Nothing happening today is entirely surprising; you can pretend we didn't see this coming and tell the Dems to step up, but we remember the truth.
Politicians vote, and they also ... do other things. Or they don't. Their actions show their values.
We're past getting votes. This is fascism in America, sweaty. Kindly step to the side if you want to play by the rules. Make sure to campaign super hard against the machine of fascism!!! You're so cute.
Huffpo: saying shit with no bearing for years and years now.
At least they didn't "slam" Trump, he couldn't withstand that kind of onslaught this week.
Yawn. Wake me when it’s JD Vance and Mike Johnson.
Oh, if they (along with Vought and Miller behind the scenes) can get to where they don't need him any more, they'd absolutely love to invoke the 25th. The problem for them is, so far they're still dependent on his cult of personality. They just need to finish consolidating their power. They're working on that with the military right now and the goal is to have everything cemented before the midterms that would normally take place next November, or before the time trump kicks the bucket, whichever comes first.
Why is it easier for dems to say that trump has dementia than to say the administration is unconstitutionally abusing its power violating their oaths?
They want to place all the blame for the problems in America on the shoulders of this one hapless clown because it spares them from reckoning with the deep systemic problems that led to us having this syphilis petri dish in the highest seat of power of the nation with the most powerful military in human history.
Fucking poetic.
Fact. But do the voters understand it enough to vote for an alternative to mainstream Democrats (that actually know how to fix stuff)? Like, the foundational issues are lack of term / age limits, how campaigns / candidates are funded, and lobbying. You canot fix healthcare, for example, without fixing the system that allowed our current state. Having any discussion before the foundations are fixed is an act of futility.
They say that shit all the time, omfg the public is so completely uninformed or misinformed rn it pains me. You want to know what they're saying? They all have social medias ffs.
Thank you. Just when I had started to lose hope in Lemmy. (Maybe that's the point of the constant railing against Dems here.)
Leaders need to do more than just say things. They need to follow with actions.
I agree so let's give the DNC at least 4 more senate seats with caucus in the midterms and make an honest effort to remove all 20 GOP up for reelection not matter the cost.
Best I can do is a 1-seat majority where 2 are Republicans in disguise.
Are you saying they’re not saying that? Because i’m pretty sure they are.
We won’t hear about it of course, but that should be expected. I guess we'd have to define what you mean by “dems”, but I’m pretty sure we can find more than a couple.
He’s 80. His dad died of Alzheimer’s. Odds are in favor of it. While syphilis is on the rise lately, it’s also cured with antibiotics. I think there’s lower odds of the syphilis, granted, until the last year or two, it wasn’t a common test run on anyone, so, maybe.
What’s interesting is China just came out with new nanotech which has effectively reduces the causes of Alzheimer’s in animal models. Meanwhile, Trump has both alienated China and chased many scientists from our country to theirs.
His dad, his grandad, and his sister all died of it. Of COURSE he has it, we’ve been screaming it since the first time this demented rapist was illegally placed in power.
I wonder if Merrick Garland has regrets, for dragging his feet. Not that it matters.
Because they don't want fingers pointed at them, just in case they want to do it too.
The US desperately needs a grass-roots movement that lies low and makes do with harm reduction so the ones in power do not see it coming, and then suddenly switches their vote together all at once when they know they have enough numbers for a third party to surpass the other two, and be able to pass constitutional amendments, fix the electoral system, and other changes to start undoing the damage of McCarthyism.
I would also like a pony.
JFC, Science says 50% of people over 65 have some form of cognitive decline. The average age of government is 65.
His dad who was in much better shape was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age Trump is now
His dad didn't get as much syphilis and tear through mountains of cocaine either. He also wasn't on camera 24/7 for half a decade.
And does it matter? People blamed Biden for every time he said Umm, but yet Trump did much worse and nobody in the media has even hinted at his dementia.
You know who owns the media, right?
No, he's just dumb. He's always been this way. His whole nepo baby life just revolved around people telling him "yes"
He has always been this way but he's more this way now. I was always skeptical about the "Trump's losing it" stories because Trump has always been an idiot and a narcissist who can't distinguish between his fantasies and reality. But now it's undeniable that he seems more confused, out of touch and unpredictable.
No. Just look at an interview from, say, 2010. He’s coherent. An idiot, a rapist, sure, but he’s not the babbling demented mess he is now. He’s not just dumb, his neurons are peacing out.
They have Feinstein on their track record, so it’s small consolation.
If you watch the Schiff updates, a lot of this is squarely on the backs of Republicans, and they’re complacent. Schiff shows a vid of Lindsey Graham, of all people, asking Bondi how many illegal immigrants are in Chicago right now, he pushes the question too. She can’t answer. I was shocked that Graham even asked. It will take men like Graham to be willing to state Trumps infirmity out loud.
But I don’t think they will because they haven’t solidified anything yet, separate from Trump. I think that’s why they’re rolling out national guard and moving faster, Trump looks like he’s dying on his feet.
As an aside, re the national guard. There’s a YouTube channel called The Dangerous Ones. I don’t know how I ended up there, but it certainly seems like the symbol of liberal that is Portland is going to be a center point both now and moving forward. We should all keep an eye on that city. Check out the troll action happening over there. Look at how Portland is protesting. This is something that was not possible in 1935, this wide open media outside of places like CNN and the WaPo. These YT channels and substacks are communication & documentation. The trolling focus of The Dangerous Ones gave me hope.
