Interesting. Now my next question is how bad is the current timeline compared to what it could have been?

I can imagine at least several major points at which the world could have been significantly improved by incredibly small changes - on the level of "Eats at a different place" or "Bullet one inch to the left".

Are you sure things were worse? I studied history by listening to part of a podcast while cooking and browsing memes and it only sounded great!

Well, not always. We've had periods of downturn, that's for certain. The Bronze Age Collapse, the Late Roman Empire... but such periods have been shorter and more regional as technology, material and organizational, has progressed, and hopefully, we will not see another setback of comparable seriousness and duration again.
