Yup, I've done the full switcheroo. Not going to be using Reddit's app and 90% of my Reddit use is on my phone...

I've mostly moved here, though some of my favorite subs dont have an equivalent community here as of now and I'm a bit bummed about losing them.

How do you find your favorite community? Can't anything yet. I'm using connect on Lemmy.world. every search ends up with nothing much.

Still sometimes visit Reddit for some of the communities that don't seem like migrating. Try to limit the time there to be very minimal, anyway.

But I don't think that wiping my data there would be a good thing, because posts/comments could be useful to others still. Maybe it would make sense to repost those here, and then remove πŸ€”

Yeah, just got a temp ban for apparently wrongfully reporting a post. Fuck that place

[–] thatonedude1210@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I already have. There are some specialized subreddits I still peek at, but otherwise it's Lemmy all the way.

[–] Gestrid@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Mostly.

All I'm on Reddit for now is to watch it burn and to participate in the one subreddit I truly care about on there. I'm not participating in anything else on there at all.

I went all in on Lemmy and honestly am having a better time than I did on Reddit.

[–] Trainzkid@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Yes, next question

[–] squirrel_bear@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago

I'm trying, but there are a lot of people and communities who don't follow. The corporate are just too powerful at the moment. Like Facebook's new Threads is replacing Twitter, instead of Mastodon. Here in Finland Mastodon had it's moment and people were migrating to that, but I dunno.

[–] thesalamander@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah, deleted RIF early and just pretend it doesn't exist. I'll probably use it if a useful answer pops up on Google, but not for scrolling.

Lemmy and Threads will have to fill the gap for now, but if they grow I don't see a problem at all.

[–] RomanceDailies@beehaw.org 2 points 2 years ago

I am definitely replacing Reddit with Lemmy/kbin. I am done with Reddit.

[–] TheSleepMovement@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

So far yep! Why not?

Reddit has no loyalty to me so why should I have to it?

Ultimately I just want some interesting useless funny shit to look at. Doesn't matter where it comes from.

This is my first Lemmy comment ever!

[–] EeeDawg101@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

I’m fully on Lemmy now except when I need to find historical information - for example episode discussions from a TV show or how to fix computer issues, etc.

[–] Shoukupan@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Not entirely just yet. Reddit as a source of information is incredibly valuable and Lemmy has yet to become that for me.

[–] Peeko@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

If reddit kills my patched third party app then I'm done using it on mobile, and if they kill old.reddit then I'm done using it on desktop. I'd switch to Lemmy or kbin full time but the content variety is VERY low compared to reddit still, especially for more niche topics like specific games or hobbies.

[–] Digirip@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Been here for a few days. Feels like home

[–] amenotef@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Not replacing. But trying to be honest. And I'm liking Lemmy with "Connect" app pretty much.

Can't believe Reddit can't pay to any of these Devs to revamp their shitty low performance app.

But anyway. I'm like the idea of the Lemmy instances etc.

[–] Kushia@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

They can they just deliberately chose to make it shitty.

I am 100%. Sadly i don’t think most Reddit users will until lemmy becomes easier to use and gets a functioning IOS app.

[–] SkyNTP@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

TBH I could have continued using Reddit as it was in may. Now I'm basically kicked off of a Reddit experience that doesn't treat me like livestock in a cage (the official app). So here I am.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Sucks for videos and gifs though. I don't want to click a blind link to see a gif or video

[–] greensky@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Yes. Fuck reddit
