Not sure what you mean. I've played the game through every update and, while shooting was always pretty enjoyable (minus some nasty bugs pre-1.2), the driving still blows. They did tweak it a bit but it's still noticeably bad, especially if you switch between another car game and CP.
Can you give an example of how it blows? I think it feels a lot more responsive and consequently more fun than something like Just Cause 3. Drifting is easy to pull off once you learn how, speed is important to manage, and all the cars have unique handling, acceleration, and weight. I love every time I get into a car.
I think motorcycles are a tad more iffy with the way they spin when you try to pull a tight turn at a high speed, but that’s my only complaint
Yeah, I was just thinking last night how much I truly enjoy the driving. I completely agree.
On PC it's difficult because the driving isn't analog but expects an analog signal. That means when you press forward it red lines the rpms.
I got in the habit of playing with a controller connected so I could use it for driving, and the M+K for shooting lol
I sometimes do the same.
What do you mean? The driving feels awful. It's neither arcadey nor realistic, it feels like driving a soap bar.
The shooting and melee do feel pretty good so I gotta agree with you there
Good analogy! The cars seem to turn by just rotating around the center axis so it holds there too.
I kind of disagree with you. I've played a lot of Forza Horizon 4/5 and it feels almost on par with those at times. Now, does every car handle well? Absolutely not. Some cars are straight garbage when it comes to handling and I can't believe they left those as is, especially the faster/racer cars. Ironically, the less stylish, smaller cars tend to handle the best IMO.
I think part of the problem they've had balancing the vehicle physics is due to the sprawling nature of the game. It's hard to make the physics feel okay in a FPS that also translates well to an entirely different genre of gameplay.
I'm not trying to excuse how poorly some of the vehicles handle, it's just my theory on why they can't seem to nail it across the board. As a side note, I'd say that hopefully Cyberpunk 2 does a better job when they move over to UE5, but UE also has its fair share of problems. Ideally, they'd work with a studio that specializes with car games to provide consultation or something, e.g. Playground Games. I'm not holding my breath, though.
It so hard to drive with keyboard+mouse. Maybe it's better with controller ? I have never tried.
I've tried both, controller is marginally better, still doesn't feel good especially when hand breaking.
Nah the driving is actually kinda realistic its the feeling of speed thats completely off, You take a corner and expect to handbrake drift around it but spin out or fly into a wall because you're actually going 100kph but don't realise it because the game makes it feel like 30. Further worsened by the spedometer being faked after a certain speed but still being taken into account for things like stopping distance.
yea I like the new vehicle combat, I feel badass using it in police chases
Gonna make a spicy meatball and plant it here: I think the combat while driving is atrocious and clunky. Vehicles don't handle nearly well enough to support it, the button layout for it on controller is terrible, aiming is a pain in the ass and very unintuitive and janky while you are trying to drive and in every single scenario it's just easier and more enjoyable to simply get out of the car and engage on foot. I never fight while in a car, it's that terrible.
This is spicy? Look, update 2.0 fixed a lot of the problems from the original release and I think the game is absolutely worthy of high praise now; I drive around Night City just for chill vibes like I used to in GTA 5. But I'm right there with you that vehicle combat is still downright awful. I have no idea what OP is smoking but I want some, theirs is the real hot take here 😂
Honestly I fell in love with the vehicle combat because it's hard to control. It's chaotic, slippery, explosive, and wreckless. That's why it's fun! :D
Oh, yeah and the fact that it all feels great on a controller AND on m+k? Hot damn CDPR devs are amazing.
My driving experiences (with controller) completely depend on which car I'm driving, with most of the muscle car being rather soapy.
Quartz Bandit that you get from Rogue is the best in the city at high speeds imho.
