Dragon Dance Your Way into the New Year! Get ready to ring in the new year by catching droves of Dragon-type Pokémon! From Monday, December 25, 2023, at 00:00 UTC to Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, Dratini will be appearing in mass outbreaks throughout the Paldea region, Jangmo-o will be appearing in mass outbreaks throughout the land of Kitakami, and Duraludon will be appearing in mass outbreaks throughout the Terarium at Blueberry Academy.

Pokémon encountered in these special mass outbreaks are more likely to have the Joyful Mark. These Dragon types must be excited to celebrate the new year!

Monday, December 25, 2023, at 00:00 UTC to Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 23:59 UTC

Locations and Featured Pokémon:

Paldea: Dratini

Kitakami: Jangmo-o

Based on the wording I'm guessing it's not for Go at all (outbreaks IN regions as opposed to FROM regions)

I haven't played a non-Go Pokemon game in years, is there one with online features like this?

Yep, the newest titles (Scarlet and Violet) have this functionality.
