I've seen the negativity towards the anime stuff and I don't think it's THAT bad if the pic has characters with realistic clothes and a "street wear" vibe. As you mentioned, design starts with a drawing, but I can also see why some people would rather keep the sub-lemmy "real pics only", either way. Instead of complaining that much they could contribute π

Take it easy man, I'm a huge Futurama fan, not a big anime fan at all, but this still seems ok just for the sake of inspiration.
I wish it was more real-world stuff, but occasional cartoon inspiration is ok too. Don't give people a negative impression of Lemmy, particularly as a mod.
