This sounds like preparations for a blockade of Yemen’s ports. Am I reading this right?

Seems like it.

It's probably the most effective way to prevent them from receiving Iranian weapons and shooting them at civilian ships.

If the Houthis cease their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the United States will immediately reevaluate this designation.

All they gotta do is stop shooting at civilian ships and everyone will go back to not blowing up their assault facilities and preventing weapon shipments.

Dude the Houthis have been getting bombed for a decade

If only we were so resolute to stopping people shooting civilians..... that would solve both problems at the same time

Well, we all read that other statement that had no mention of the murder of nearly 25,000 civilians.

Civilians only matter when they're a certain colour or ethnicity.

So much fucking stereotyping!

Houthis are a mostly political movement and the de facto government of the most populous parts of Yemen.

Saying "our action targets the Houthis and not the people of Yemen" is straight nonsense deliberately designed to paint the chosen government of most of the Yemeni people as identical to small groups of terrorists within the large movement.

It's straight out of the Dubya/Cheney/Rumsfeld playbook of manufacturing consent for war crimes.

Don't think the US is in any position to call anyone else a "terrorist" considering they're facing charges of genocide at the Hague right now
