I look forward to it being prohibitively expensive and still having stick drift.

Not to mention bumpers that fail right after the warranty expires! Can't wait!

Worst $180 I ever spent. My Xbox Elite Series 2 controller's bumper died a week after my warranty expired. I'd barely had time to use it that year, and didn't abuse it in any way. I have controllers from 2002 that still work flawlessly after thousands of hours of service. Somehow Microsoft figured out how the make the least durable, most expensive controller ever. Never again, MS. Never again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me... you can't get fooled again.

Controllers have been getting steadily worse since Xbox 1. I never had a controller failure for the original & 360 and I played them a lot more than the 1.

I actually had more console failures than controller now that I think about it, lol.

Mine has been going since release day with zero problems. Multiple hours played a day. I feel they have poor quality control in whatever factory these come from (or maybe there is more than one and one of them sucks hard).

I'm all for gyro, it's been a feature of every Sony and Nintendo console since PS3/Wii released 17 years ago.

That said the time to include it was the 2020 controller revision so that developers targeting the Series platform could assume that all players had access to the feature.

Controller features that release mid-gen are doomed to have limited uptake by consumers and developers alike.

But I guess it will be standard when the next console releases so that's something to look forward to for 2027 :/

Honestly, would still be nice to have, for how much Xbox controllers are the de facto controller on PC as well.

Lots of games there between steam input, emulators, etc, where it just feels odd to not have that gyro in what's otherwise a very premium controller (I'm using the Elite controller). It's my favourite controller hands down, and yet I consider using my Switch Pro Controller just for gyro in some titles.

And yeah, better to lay that groundwork now for the next generation than miss out on it entirely.

Wow, can't believe they still have time to reveal something this year, it's already January!

I really wish they would have kept the Kinect voice features but put them in the controller. It was nice to be able to perform commands with your voice and with LLMs becoming big, it won't be long before natural conversation with characters will be possible.

I have both a dual sense and a xbox controller and the dual sense is so superior it’s not even a competition so I hope they at least upgrade their sub par plastic materials.

It’s like PS is Lego and Xbox is Duplo. But they’re still the same cost.

Too bad the PS controller is an ergonomic mess (in my opinion) as it is the more superior technological controller.

hall effect joysticks when??

That's what I'm waiting for as well!
