Give Texas back to Mexico

Democrats regain their majority

No more Canadian Senator Lyin’ Ted Cruz

No more little piss baby Greg Abbot

No more border “cRiSis”

One less burdensome tax sucking shit-stain red state

[–] hglman@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 years ago (4 children)

You would immediately have millions trying to leave texas, will you let them in to the us?

[–] AllonzeeLV@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Depends.

Are they requesting asylum in a coal rolling pick-up truck with truck nuts?

I'd probably lean no on this asylum seeker. Literal Captain Planet villains need not apply.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 5 points 2 years ago

That type might well be seeking asylum IN Texas…

[–] perishthethought@lemm.ee 11 points 2 years ago

Totally! We'd welcome anyone who wouldn't want to stay in there.

[–] WashedOver@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No I think they should have to go back to where they came from like Europe. That's how they thinks it works when they yell that at born and breed Texans of non white backgrounds.

[–] pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You do realize that not every Texan is like that, right?

[–] WashedOver@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

I sure hope not!

[–] tinyVoltron@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Meet them at the border with the national guard. We don't want another border crisis do we?

[–] rustydomino@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Agree. But Texas is one of the few red states that pays more federal taxes than it takes in federal money.

[–] JizzmasterD@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 years ago

Ugh. I hadn’t known he was from Calgary until you mentioned it. It tracks way too embarrassingly.

Sooooorry,

Yes, please. I want some of that universal health care.

For those who don't know, the image is from

Kim's Convenience (Netflix). A great show, from a used to be decent streamer.

Yup it was a CBC show, picked up by Netflix.

I figured it would be easier to say it the way I did rather than doing the semantics dance, mainly because Netflix is (unfortunately) more recognizable than CBC to most people.

Also, I'm unaware if CBC has a way to stream or watch the show on-demand.

ETA: Thank you for the clarification add by the way.

[–] LittleTarsier@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

CBC has an app called CBC Gem where you can watch for free :)

[–] IronicDeadPan@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Well T.I.L. Thank you.

[–] ComradePorkRoll@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Which they canceled. That show was so good and they just canceled it with so many loose ends.

[–] sbv@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago

Netflix didn't cancel it, since it was produced by the CBC. And apparently CBC didn't cancel it either, the creators decided to leave.

[–] Grobmobularb@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago (3 children)

As a Texan, no, I don’t want to secede….

[–] Landmammals@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago (2 children)

You guys could have had Beto.

[–] Grobmobularb@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

I voted for Beto…

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

If he just didn't say he would come for thier guns....

[–] problematicPanther@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There are some things you don't say in Texas. That's one of them.

[–] Landmammals@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Yep

Given the choice between a football field filled with child sized coffins, and an abusive psychopath being denied immediate access to a firearm due to a red flag law, Texans will be upset that there are coffins all over the football field.

[–] Grobmobularb@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Exactly. But so did Drumpf, but it’s ok because he said it.

[–] DigitalNirvana@lemm.ee 9 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Pretty sure your gov does. Maybe not vote him in again? I dunno, just a thought.

[–] hglman@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ok, i did, but 55% didn't, do the rest of the need to suffer now?

Just ask the women forced to give birth even at the cost of their own lives in shit hole states like LA, TX etc

[–] Grobmobularb@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

I voted for Beto

[–] perishthethought@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

Or is he just pandering to those folks who think they're serious about this, while fully knowing there's no way it could work?

[–] BoxerDevil@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Might want to consider moving then

[–] pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

That's how you make things a lot worse. In fact, more democrats are needed in Texas to overwhelm the rural vote, not less.

I live in Missouri. I moved here when it was a swing state. I would leave if I could due to how frightening the political situation is.

[–] BoxerDevil@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

We may be past that point.

[–] Tristaniopsis@aussie.zone 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] perishthethought@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

I triple-checked my spelling to make sure I didn't make that mistake

Is Texas talking about leaving really all that new?

Several years back I went to Woodlands TX for a business trip. There was a historical map of Texas on the wall of the CEO's office I was visiting. As I was asking questions about the oil rigs depicted, it was mentioned everytime the price of gas goes up, the separation of Texas talk goes up along with it.

Thankfully last year when I was down there the price of fuel was 2.87/G when it was 5.83/G in California.

However it seems they have found a new way to rile the population up now.

Most people who talk about it aren't even serious about it either. It's just their version of, "someone should do something."

Unfortunately that someone is the group that they've been brainwashed to hate.

You back to the OGs? The native Americans, right?

[–] bajabound@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Native trespassers!

[–] Heikki@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago
