The lemmy.world instance was just updated to version 0.18.2. The login issues that were being reported (for example, here) are now resolved.

For release notes: https://lemmy.world/post/1339018

Edit for those who still have issues logging in:

  • When using a browser: clear cookies and cache
  • When using an app: remove your lemmy.world account and add it again.

Lemmy.world was already running a version with this security patch but indeed that's also in 0.18.2!

[-] NightOwl@lemmy.one 22 points 1 year ago

Impressive speed. You guys are amazing.

[-] Rooki@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Yeah i already knew that but now it is officially patched :)

Anyone using Liftoff - if you can't log in, or keep getting logged out, remove and re-add your account:

Settings from top right

Accounts

Long press the account

Click Remove

Then add the account again

[-] bombadizzle@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Fwiw, I skipped to the last step and it worked. Didn't have to remove the account, re-adding the existing account still worked

[-] mykl@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

That’s a top tip! I’ll update our instructions to our users. Thanks!

Works on one phone, not on the second one. So weird.

[-] IonAddis@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I've found for both Liftoff and Jeroba that going to the android apps page on my phone and clearing the cache for both of them cleared up some persistent login/logout issues that removing/adding my account didn't.

Update seems to be running pretty smooth, but (and maybe I missed it) I think it would be super awesome if you put up a banner ahead of time letting people know you are doing a maintenance or update or something at X:00 pm EST or something.

To suddenly settle down and log in to post and support the platform only to be hit with a shit ton of confusing issues, then everyone posting about the same issues, then getting an update about what happened that caused the issues after the fact is less than ideal.

Again, maybe y'all did and I missed it, but a little banner with a heads up would be...

Unrelated but are you the same Antik that has graffiti all over Amsterdam?

[-] antik@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

No but I saw them too! I considered it a tribute, so thanks whatever his tagname is! 😁

[-] WaterSword@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Haha that’s great! Their tag is one of the most common all over Amsterdam. I’ve no idea if they’re a single person or a group though.

[-] Epicurus0319@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Good. These growing pains are a sign that we’re gathering steam. Best part is, with alt accounts on other fedded sites we no longer have to do something else during downtime.

[-] Odo@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Oh, so that's what was logging me out. I cleared cookies, but it kept happening. Cheers.

[-] ryannathans@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Still broken for me. I'm seeing a 400 on the unread_count request after login. After the login page refreshes the page still asks me to log in again.

edit: workaround is to manually clear your cookies for the site and try again

[-] ryannathans@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

bottom left of the screen even says "logged in" but.. I am not

[-] antik@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Remove cookies and cache from your browser. If you're using chrome follow these steps: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

Cheers

[-] CataclysmZA@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Can confirm. Clearing cookies on Edge browser on Windows 11 fixed the login issue.

[-] sashawins@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago

New app icons are awesome!

[-] ElectroVagrant@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Should it have logged folks out as a means to help resolve the login issues? I honestly couldn't tell because when I went away before this update, I was experiencing the issue and came back to it logged out, thinking it was a continuation of the issue till I saw this post...But then it left me asking this.

[-] antik@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

If you're still having issues just try logging in and out again.

[-] ElectroVagrant@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I'm not now, but I was wondering if the update may have logged people out to help with that, or if that may have just been a coincidence.

[-] ZephyrXero@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I just saw the update show up. Looks great. Seems to be running much smoother than the past couple days. Thank you LemmyOps team

[-] taaz@biglemmowski.win 4 points 1 year ago

Huh, why is it not a release on Github, the tag is there but no release.

Tried to login to my Lemmy app, but strangely enough it wouldn't be able to load any posts when trying to filter on 'subscribed' subredd.... sublemmy's (Is that how you call it? Sorry, brand new to lemmy lol), but 'local' and 'all' works fine. Don't know if it's an issue with the app having to update their API or something alike.

[-] antik@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Remove and re-add your lemmy.world account to your app.

[-] trouser_mouse@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I assume this is not the same meaning as in the UK!

More seriously, great work!

[-] LeHappStick@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I was logged out again and I thought my account had been hijacked.

What a spook I got

[-] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Hm. I am still getting logged out, both on the website in Chrome and on my mobile app mlem.

[-] GwilliamSP@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago
[-] luffyuk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It solved my login problem, thanks!

[-] root@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Thank you for the update!

[-] throbbingpens@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

I’m trying on mobile Safari and I’m still unable to log in on lemmy.world. I also got rate limited for some reason.

[-] zecg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It works in browser, but Jerboa won't show subscribed for me?

[-] antik@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Did you try to remove your account and add it again?

[-] Zpiritual@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Had the same issue. Try clearing the app data storage.

[-] zecg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Thanks, dude, that worked.

[-] wilberfan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago
[-] Rengoku@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I am getting logged off repeatedly for no reason.

[-] antik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago
