Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

I'm sulking because the thing I ordered online is only going to arrive on Monday (after the long weekend). I cannot begin to explain how this makes me feel. It should have been an overnight service, but somebody screwed up. I may have to say a swear word.

Fuck!

Another day of mountain biking in Rotorua. I took a hard tail down the trails yesterday, and it was faster than the full sus. Also, a lot of fun. Definitely wearing the neck brace today if im going to be pushing it like that again

Any sport where you have to preventively wear a neck brace is way too extreme for me!

Good luck though!

Theres easier options, but once youve experienced flying down the trails, youll be addicted

Kudos to you for bothering with safety gear! So many people avoid it for daft reasons.

My reasons actually arent for safety, its for confidence!

Interesting, was deep in the process of getting Home & Contents Insurance via ANZ, and they have said Vero will most likely refuse cover for "Semi-Detached" Houses.

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

That'd weird. I wonder why?

Actually seems to have been worded a little wrong by ANZ. Filled out a questionnaire from Vero, and had a conversation with them, and cover was accepted.

It was more along the line of "We need to assess each of these cases on an individual basis by asking a few follow up questions", which was actually very basic stuff.

Ah yes that makes sense.

It's the last day of the work week, wondering what to do for matariki with my wife and son (5y.o.) tomorrow in Auckland, anyone else got matariki plans?

[-] SamC@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Matariki tomorrow, 14th July... it will be the latest Matariki holiday until 2036 (when it'll be 18th July), although 2028 will also be 14th July.

Later is better I think, since it's more evenly spaced between King's birthday and Labour day. Looking forward to 2041 when it'll be 19th July!
