i think its really funny that netflix, a company notorious for canceling stuff affer like a season, has decided to take on adapting the longest anime/manga
Never get excited for a live action adaptation. It almost never goes well...
yeah, agreed
most nuances in the anime version can't be replicated in live action
It seems like Netflix is doing all they can to make it the best live action adaptation ever, which is a breath of fresh air considering how little effort shueisha puts on the one piece anime.
From what I've seen so far it really feels like one piece, which is all I want. Even if they make changes to the story and fail at some things, if they can replicate the magic of watching one piece, I'll be very happy with it.
I'm looking forward to watching it with some folks who don't watch anime.
I used to think this, then I remembered what they did to Cowboy Bebop. It horrified Shinichiro Watanabe.
"The value of the anime is somehow far higher now." His words.
After this, why would anyone have hope that Netflix would make a good live action adaptation?
When you look at all adaptation attempts out there, each one failed at something different and there's no single thing that all of them got wrong. Eventually someone will get everything right. It might not be with One Piece, but it'll happen sooner or later.
Good or bad, it will be an experience and I'm looking forward to it. Also, the actors, set designers, clothing choices, there are so many small things that shows everyone involved is giving 💯%
Honestly the trailer killed any hope I had for it...
