Is there an app that allows me to use both Lemmy and Mastodon (and possibly other Fediverse programs?)

Fedilab is working on adding the ability to add Lemmy instances to it: https://toot.fedilab.app/@apps/110673796368824384

But it's not available yet, and no other app has it either.

Although you can add lemmy communities it's really very limited and not useful (for me at least).

Artemis which is a Kbin app will support both (since kbin supports both) but it’s still in beta and doesn’t have microblogging yet

Actually pushed out the initial version of microblogging yesterday :)

Commenting from beta Artemis and it is fantastic.

Where is this option available? Tried to look for announcements on that feature going live.

Not that I know of ... but there should be IMO! I've said so previously elsewhere.

It might be a lot of work, but it'd be something that only a good app/client could possibly deliver, and IMO, probably move the needle on what people think of what the fediverse can be.

If any developers are reading this ... I'd say give it a shot! There are probably plenty of open source apps you could copy from!

The UI is peobably the main problem, I imagine. The app would need to know how to portray a certain post - in the Lemmy style or in the Mastodon style?

Yeah, lots:

Chrome Edge Firefox Safari

(/s I’m just bein’ silly)

You can also read posts from most of them via an RSS reader. To interact with posts, see the comment above.

(I'm dead serious. No fun allowed here.)

I will say the PWA scene for the fediverse has been pretty good, and until some dedicated apps showed up, I was just using those on my phone and iPad.

I also have a tab group on my ipad that has all my fediverse sites open in it, and that’s a pretty good way to check everything.

There's a ticket that was created for Lemmy support in Fedilab two years ago that could use support and/or boosting.

I suppose kbin might count.

Kbin is literally built for this, if that's your thing

Personally I like having a separate account for each platform but I think idea is a very clever one

Yeah, it seems like being able to follow people is a feature for Lemmy that will arrive at some point as it opens up the Fediverse more but the developers probably have more pressing matters and implementing it might be tricky (I believe kbin is a bit clunky in this regard).

I joined Mastodon last month and so could finally sort of see how it would work - if you were using your Kbin account to log into Mastodon for example you could share a post from a Lemmy community directly to your Mastodon followers.

That is very cool.

The rest is a bit clunky like you say though. I could use my Kbin account to post to Mastodon from this community. Would that serve any purpose? Doesn't appear so. Might become clearer in the future

yep. i use firefox
