If leftists want a say in how the DNC machine works, they need positions in the DNC machine. The appointed government positions come after the power.

If you're talking about the DNC, its officers are elected.

Kind of both? The president is always the leader of the party, for both parties, and state chairpersons are elected, but the how varies per state.
TIL people from the Right can't actually draw their own comics but rather pretend that they're so clever for making a meme out of someone else's work. Shen himself is a "leftist" but still defends the rights of others to make art that depicts things he himself doesn't believe in, while people on the Right generally will only defend those who believe exactly the same thing and hate everyone who believes anything else.
Also it's worth pointing out that the original comic was about being shackled to crippling anxiety and the attempt to escape it at any cost, but someone has cheapened it into a stupidly meaningless political meme.
People do this with rockthrow all the time

It's not Democrats doing this. It's first past the post.
There is no competent politician who supports FPTP.
Most Democrats support FPTP.
Nah, it's the Dems. The Dems serve Capital first and foremost, if they didn't they wouldn't be elected.
Things are more complicated than one issue being the be-all and end-all. But some are more significant than others.
