Well. That happened.

I'm really not sure what to say about this one. I loved Clone Wars and I loved Rebels. But they were zingy, tight shows with a lot of life to them.

This episode... was not that.

There was a space battle between a ship and a few smaller ships.

There was some clattering of wooden swords between a Jedi and a non-Force-Padawan-because-erm... didn't we do the "Let Sabine be Sabine" story already on Rebels?

Oh. And there was something about Hera and the New Republic being ineffective. But we got to see her lovechild from Kanan. So wink-wink he wants to be a Jedi.

I don't know. I feel very conflicted because I desperately want to love this show. But... this episode felt very empty. Boring.

And why do I feel like I'm going to be proven right and masked-evil-Jedi-person turns out to be fallen Ezra?

That would be disappointing.

If this show is trying to tell an exciting story travelling across galaxies, finding Thrawn, adding new layers of mysticism to the universe, then... give me that show. Not this plodding stilted whatever-this-is.

I'm so disappointed with Disney+ shows. Usually they premiere with a solid first episode that is close to 1 hour length, but then they quickly reduce them to 30 minutes during which they're barely telling the story. As if they had material for 4 episodes, but wanted to make money from people subscribing for 2 months.

Stupendous Wave mentioned that Sam Witwer was in the credits for episode 2 and thats the one Marrok was in only so there's some evidence that Marrok is a cannonized Starkiller. Also if they make Sabine force sensitive imma be angry, it's just so fucking lazy

I'm less bothered by the way they're depicting her force sensitivity than I feared from the trailers. I think they're implying everybody's got* a little,* and Sabine's probably a 2/10 while a Jedi's usually at least a 5 or something along those lines. I'll watch and see where they take it. I'm fine if she doesn't get full telekinesis/mind powers and just gets good with a lightsaber and fight moves along the lines of Chirrut.

I'm also fine with making the SW universe a little less nepotistic and you don't have to come from some great force-wielder dynasty.

I saw the comparison to Chirrut after I made that comment and I'd be very happy if thats where they left Sabine. It's been cannon that in a given situation even a non-jedi/Sith could wield the force well enough to use a lightsaber effectively. Having more variety of force users makes characters like Anakin or even lesser Jedi like Cal Kestis for example seem even more powerful in comparison

Agreed that this was a letdown. It felt like it should have been the first 15-20 minutes of a full episode, not a full episode on its own.
