Why'd he have to go and make the use of cocaine a political issue though? I mean, if we were allowed to grow our own coca then we wouldn't have to fund terrorists.

Hypothetically, you are about to vote and you only have two choices.

One's like, "Let's legalize cocaine because it makes people super productive!" but the other is like "Hold up, let's keep things serious."

I think I don't have to say which political party the cat is supporting (boring cat)

So, in this totally hypothetical context, it would be a political discussion
