It was weird using Reddit Is Fun like I always do then it just suddenly stopped.
I can't create a community. I click the button and nothing happens. Any idea why? I'm trying to recreate a community from Reddit that really helped me when I was in a dark place.

I suspect reddit are leaving them operational so reddit can bill them at the end of the month.

I ask as I spent time in different servers looking for one I liked before making an account, so it took a while before I became an 'active user'

That's your best bet at the moment. Liftoff was another decent option but latest update doesn't see the lemm.ee instance for some reason. Things will get better on the app front in a month or 2 when Boost and Sync go live.

Yeah there's a checkbox for it under profile settings. There's a ton of great communities, I've subscribed to around 40. Once you get a good set of communities can just set your default to "Subscribed" in profile settings. That will be your front page. You don't really want to use "Local" because it may not be very active. "All" has a lot of stuff in it you may not want to see. There's a few communities where I don't ever want to see their content. See lemmyverse.net for community info. There's a lot of good communities on kbin as well (you can access those from Lemmy and vice versa).
you can literally turn of nsfw when you make your sign in on a lemmy server.
I want to create a community for my local city but when I click the button after entering the name, description, logo, etc. Nothing happens. Do I need to do something first?
Hey! Unfortunately, the errors on community creation are not currently properly displayed in the frontend. What name are you trying to create the community with?
The most common reason for failure is simply the community name already being in use.
"Migrants" is fine. "Refugees" makes light of people in our community who are actually suffering the extreme hardship of being forced from their home with nothing.
Hey, there is no intention of making light of anybody, but if my use of that word bothers anybody then I don't mind changing it in my post.
If you cave everytime someone gets offended, you won't be able to write anything. Ignore people like that that are purposefully misconstruing your intentions just to make themselves feel better about their boring lives.
They don't always mean it that bad, but often enough you'll find they're ill-mannered trolls who'll ruin your day if you engage. So yeah.
