Blackberry season here on the West Coast! Looks like we'll be eating Blackberry and Apple jelly for a while. Yum.
I cut my salary by around 50% when I moved back from Aus in 2020. Changed industry (medical marketing to tourism) and have never been happier. Work doesn't feel like work most of the time now... I suspect you need a change h whether that's a new job or a new industry, "change is as good as a holiday" is a truism for a reason!
I've been mostly off work for a week with back injury. Not fun at all, and I've not tolerated the drugs at all well either. Finally feeling like I'm back to something close to normal today though, so back to work tomorrow.
Have been setting up my first new phone in about 4 years. Only reason I changed is because the screen on the S10+ was completely past it. Have gone to a Pixel 7a. It's a phone I guess 😂
Guess I'd never really listened properly to those lyrics. Makes sense it's about homelessness... To be fair, it's pretty bloody hard to understand what EV's singing at the best of times.
I often wonder what changed about Pearl Jam's songwriting - they never managed to recapture that same intensity that Ten had. Incredible debut, not a bad song on that album. Then Vs, a couple, maybe three dud songs. Vitalogy, maybe 50/50. Stopped listening pretty much after that. Certainly never bought another of their albums.
Like Vedder's solo stuff tho.
Ho ho ho, is that the sound of bells I hear?
Once is an accident, twice indicates something systemic! Gotta be something going on here.... Changing currents maybe?
Kids were on go-slow this morning - just about missed the bus. It's like herding kittens some days...
We have a couple that hang out on the power lines near home - watched one calmly fall off the other day, plummet to the ground and perform a very sketchy crash landing in the nick of time. Gorgeous idiots lol
Great album. The Warmth remains one of my top 10 songs of all time - just love the shifting harmonies and unusual phrasing of the bass.
There are stairs to the cave itself, but inside is a completely natural pathway. Nothing between you and the speleothems except a rope on the ground. Lights are an LED system worn on each individual's helmet. And about a bazillion glowworms down in the lower levels over a lake.
Great for NZ economically. Ambivalent for everyday Kiwis and I suspect detrimental long term to our already abused whenua. Seeing great swathes of South Canterbury etc being force fed fertiliser to grow grass to grow cows to make milk to export just doesn't seem like the 'right' thing to be doing. And this agreement just makes that econmically more viable for the dairy cartel.
My 2c at least :/
Oh no, won't someone think of all those critical Temu shipments! Anyway...
(Seriously, there must be a lot of irreplaceable stuff that goes through the post - this is actually a fairly big deal and I'm sure there will be people quite badly affected. Horrible to think about actually)
