The important thing they do is ensure no one organises against them. The media can be relaxed in that case.

Holy shit, those nipples though?

So this got me thinking. Would carrying a laser pointer save your life if you got attacked by a wild cat (mountain Lion or something) or a bear? Assuming you tried to use it to distract the animal.

That movie has no originality. I just wanted something new and all we got was a rehash of the original alien movie, but with attractive kids.

But the billionaires don't have millions of votes.

It was Poland in WW2. It's Ukraine now. Poland remembers.

No. Don't stay quiet. Blame the Republicans!

[-] Bookmeat@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

The single best thing the Dems can do now is take a chapter out of the Republican playbook and obstruct everything, full tilt, no good barred. Inject themselves into everything, all committees, panels, investigations, reviews, etc, and block. See how much Trump can accomplish when the shoe's on the other foot.

Except Democrats outspent Republicans by a large margin. This wasn't an election lost from a lack of donations.

And Harris was too stupid to just come out and say that she'd do that. Not Trump though. See that huge sign behind him at rallies? "Trump will fix it".

The dem strategy should have been to bombast like Trump, but more. Make America greatER. Would have really taken the wind or of his sails, IMO.

Y'all remember how prohibition panned out?

Not to mention that the civil war was lost through the presidential election of 1876 even though it was won in battle before that. That election was so corrupt that the Union conceded a lot to get their president, including removing Federal forces from the South on the promise that the South would protect Federal rights of minorities, blacks, etc. (among other things) The North pulled out and the south reneged without consequence (the KKK was the strong arm then) until the Civil Rights act in the 60s. That's only roughly 60 years ago. Most of the institutional segregation from before then is still firmly in place.

I currently have a storage server with the following config.

Multiple raid6 volumes (mdadm) -> aggregated into a lvm volume group -> lvm volumes -> encrypted with luks1 -> (no partitioning) xfs file systems mounted and used by the os

I have the following criteria: I want to keep software raid (mdadm) with multiple raid sets, xfs, and lvm. I don't mind using 2fa, but I don't want to just store my secret keys on a dongle attached to my PC because that seems to defeat the point of encryption at rest.

My questions:

  1. Is there a better way to encrypt my data at rest?

  2. Is there a better layer at which to apply the encryption?

I'm mostly unhappy with luks1 over a whole lvm volume and looking for alternatives.

Thank you everyone for these great responses! I'll be looking into these ideas :)
