thanks!

Sounds like for a good amount of my ideas are for Daystrom (It's on looking at the different transporters, and how to maybe combine them)

run

should I walk instead if running would cause injuries that prevent my arrival for a longer duration than running could save?

You can find the moderators for each community in that community’s sidebar - just head to their profile and message them. This would be the process for both questions about community-specific rules, and appeals of moderator actions.

Thanks!

The downside to this solution is that the message is only guaranteed to be seen by the moderator you messaged, rather than the entire mod team, but we can and do communicate with each other as needed.

great! Glad to hear it!

I don’t think indented sub-items are possible in a list, but there may be some wizardry I’m unaware of.

Shame... I hope there turns out to be some wizardry someone knows about!

Tables are possible, but can be confusing. You might find This helpful.

Thanks!

That’s if you want to share a link to a news article or video or something, rather than create a discussion post. Your post will automatically provide a link to that URL, and will also try to generate an appropriate title that you can use if you want (generally by grabbing the title of the page you’re linking to).

Okay. For the "auto-title", let me guess, it generates a title, unless you put something in the title part of the post?

Also, what happens if you fill out the text, and put a URL at the top?

I’m not sure if it’s exactly what you have in mind, but I find a triple dash to be a good minor separator.

That could work. And, what I mean is this:

paragraph

paragraph

"paragraph" with no text

paragraph.

Basically, the "minor separator" is a paragraph that has nothing in it, but still takes up space. Like the space of 2 enters, not one.

I don’t actually know if this is possible…

Fair enough. I'll continue what I'm doing, which is just doing like 10 "spaces" ( Test)

Tables are possible, but can be confusing. You might find this helpful.

Some formatting questions (startrek.website)

So, I have some questions about formatting on this site:

  1. How can I make "sub-lists". Kinda like a "1a,1b,1c". For instance, an Idea I have involves pros and cons. I want to make a list of that idea, with a sub-list of "pro" and "con", and bellow them a sub-list of the different pro's and cons
  2. Can you make tables (I can't figure out if you can from what's on the "format help" page, I found it confusing)
  3. what is the "URL" field at the top of this post for?
  4. How do I make "minor separations", where you have multiple paragraphs, then a paragraph with more white-space between it, but not like a header or a line. It's related enough that I want it connect, but separate enough that I want some separation
  5. How can I make Paragraphs have indents? (I know they aren't needed grammatically anymore, but in some cases, a paragraph just doesn't seem "right" without an indent...

I do have some more questions, but I forgot them right now...

Thanks in advance!

So, I have some ideas for discussing Star Trek Tech (Both ideas for how to do some IRL, and some ideas for tech based on other star-trek tech, not necessarily IRL, but "IRL" if StarTrek was 100% accurate)

So, what is the best community for that?

Thanks!

This one right here - Quark’s.

  1. Perfect!

Same as above, if it’s a general question about rules and not an appeal of a specific mod action.

  1. Great!

Quark’s would be the place for this, as well.

  1. Makes sense! Also, I'm noticing a theme!

Right where you put it was the right call!

  1. Nice! I guessed right for a change!

taps the “Quark’s” sign

  1. With all the other answers, that that coming!

We’re still deciding on the best solution to contact an entire mod team, but for now, reaching out to a community moderator directly is probably the way to go.

  1. How do you do that? I, personally, would think that it would be that specific community, but seeing as it always seems to be "Quarks"... wouldn't be surprised

not an appeal of a specific mod action.

  1. How do I do that, as it looks like it's the only guaranteed exception (the one above with a community mod is probably an exception, but not guaranteed!

so... what you are saying is that the community "Quarks" is the correct one?

So, I am confused by some things with this website, and as this is a "general" community, I thought Quarks would be the most likely to be the place to post it...

So, here they are:

  1. If I have questions about general usage/ support of this website (startrek.website), what's the correct community?
  2. If I am not sure of a rule for the website, where should I ask
  3. If I am not sure of a rule for a specific community, where should I ask?
  4. Where should I ask to find a community on a specific topic?
  5. Related to 1, where should I have put this post?
  6. Also, what about questions about Lemmy?

Thanks in advance!
