It's not only interests of the chinese government, they HAVE to oblige legally if they are asked to. So even if the company has the best intentions, the government overrules.
And don't make that a chinese bad guy argument, as if western companies aren't doing the same, they just don't do that officially, which one is shadier is yours to decide.
All you can do as a company or anyone is to stop harvesting data and don't plant blackboxes/backdoors in customers systems
Yeah the other user was sarcastic aswell.
If we had actual IT giants in Europe, this would look very different.
I've seen how the car industry in Germany only got a slap on the wrist because of Dieselgate and even got the chance to send out advertisement payed by the government.
I feel like the only reason stuff like this gets pushed so hard is because we try to slow down the current IT giants until we get our shit together.
I'm glad that we do it, but i wouldn't say we are better than anyone else.
As someone trained in this field, not everything is a bulb or an LED which can take less power.
Where exactly you want this behavior?
True, holy shit if they wouldn't completely bomb you with ads everywhere it might change something, but I accidentally used the official app on my smartphone and I can't even make out content between the ads in the UI.
Not to speak of the 50s ads for a 20s video, nah won't ever go back to the official experience.
It reminds me back when ad blockers came around, nobody cared for the one banner or some pictures on the site, but they ripped your arm out and cried when there were finally solutions for solving that harassment.
In what world does the IT dictate something like this, have you ever worked in a company?
Which place are you visiting where you get non-stop covid posts?
What do you mean, Microsoft support still needs it: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/microsoft-support-cracks-windows-for-customer-after-activation-fails/
Wouldn't be surprised if they made the pull request themself.
The problem isn't that there is malware on the site, it's linked to admins as distributors.
For about 5€ a month you can free yourself from these risks
