The McLaren team have positioned themselves as the arbiter of fairness. If it's about being fair and they thought Piastri did nothing wrong they should have restored fairness too.

Lando did nothing unusual wrong but from replaying his pit stop a bit, it looked like he didn't drive neatly in the lines, which can cause problems for the mechanics. Though if someone has the true top-down view from that I'm happy to change that view.

Ofcourse the problem is their arbitrary interference in the race which seemingly seems to benefit mostly one driver when it comes to the 2025 WDC.

Hadjar getting a P10? Quite neat.

[–] DV8@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I guess this is where Lando will need to show his mental strength because even if he had nothing to do with this, it'll make him seem incapable of winning by overtaking.

I hope that Hadjar can keep the third place, but this also opens P4 for Albon against Russell with a damaged car.

The people who buy this will feel fantastic about parking them like assholes in a way that it bothers people.

While his starts are more variable I'm not sure that's a mental strength thing. I guess it could be but in Spa you could for example hear him complain about his lack if energy as the reason for why Oscar overtook him. He can't acknowledge in the moment he made several mistakes. Which I don't think is abnormal, but from the outside it looks as though if he can't have that external cause for his problems, he spirals into performing worse than when he does have the external excuse.

Oscar makes mistakes though. But it seems that when he's racing he doesn't care and keeps going.

And while Lando has improved massively in this regard (remember his angry drive after his duel with Max in Austria where he destroyed his chances by driving angrily), he still seems to be more affected after he makes a mistake and needs to believe in the moment that he did nothing wrong for him to be able to keep going. (If it works for him it works I guess)

Waking up with the sun setting is what generally feels good, depending on how far north or South of the equator you are living.

I've mentioned it in another thread about this, bug in case you really want to understand: people sign up for much more than the desktop office applications. It's a full on groupware package that comes with 1TB of cloud storage. Which automatically gives you access to your documents on any machine you use. If you get a new windows device you basically don't need to put in any effort into setting things up because it's already there. And for 80 euros you can do this for five people.

So in short: convenience for a reasonable price. To the point where it's hard to justify running it yourself. Especially because your family will start to ask you how they can get MS office again.

Office alternatives have long existed and have been good enough for a long time. I remember writing my evening class project reports in them 20 ish years ago. Funnily enough on how to integrate Linux servers into a Windows domain and authenticating with domain users on that machine. But if you want to compare M365 to something, compare it to NextCloud.

But none of what you mentioned has a mail server/client nor cloud storage. Do you run your own groupware environment for yourself?

[–] DV8@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I don't disagree agree that that's technically true. But in practice it's simply not going to happen. My 70 year old mother just wants to use outlook to mail her friends and I've setup het phone to save the pictures she takes of her grandkids (my nieces and nephews) on OneDrive so she can share them easily with the rest of the family. Same thing for my brother and my SiL. For 80 euros a year I get a full groupware experience with no extra work. Is it perfect? Of course not. But even with a higher budget there's no feature for feature alternative.

Hell, the chances of getting my work to switch to OSS cloud subscriptions is higher than getting my family to do it.

All true, but making 4 other people do this who will also continue to ask on how they can use Office because they need it for work/school is way more work.

Interesting to see it really seems like everyone across the board used less and less energy.

What did you all change? Any specific tools or tricks?

Personally I didn't even change my heating level but just used the timers a lot more with sharper cutoffs. And I did use smart plugs between my media appliances and my pc to make sure they are off when I leave the house, as well as being less casual about turning off the lights in rooms that I'm not in. Compared to 2019 (so before more WFH) that's like a 20% savings on gas, and 15% on electricity for me.

It's friday already so let's start discussing something that hasn't been done here and discuss a couple of important questions. (or whatever else you want it's the chat topic after all)

  • What day is the correct day to eat fries from the frituur and why is it friday.
  • What do you order at the frituur?
  • Why are people who use frikandel weird and people who say lange hamburger clinically insane? Civilized folk use curryworst after all.

I know it's most likely a beginner question but it's what I am I suppose.

For extra context, I generally have about 6-10 hours to spend to game per week and I find I do enjoy the main quest but after spending a couple days only doing that it feels like I'm missing out by ignoring some of the side quests.

I only have 1 charachter so far and it's lvl35 at around the start of ACT2.

Will I lose out on powerlevel if I just try to get through the main quest first for now and look into doing sidequests afterwards? Am I making my life harder if I do sidequests first?

Right now I think I would like to be able to participate in the seasonal with a new class to try out, since it is still an expensive game and I want to feel like I experience more than just one class.

So who else is going. I'm too old to meet up with strangers. I used to be with it, but than they changed what it is. It'll happen to you!

What are you going to see and what gem do you recommend?
