Fucking hell. Where's the incentive for responsible disclosure, if that's the sort of (non) response you get?

Language is more than just written script and spoken words - grammar is very language specific too. In Spanish, the example above is indeed grammatically correct.

That we despise people who have religious faith. I don't despise people with religious faith - I despise what religion does to people who have faith.

Look, I'll happily admit that F360 is an excellent CAD program. It kinda sets the standard, but the constant shifting of the goal posts for the free personal use license, plus the Hotel California nature of cloud streaming the app, just pisses me off.

My brother's using it professionally and he's quite happy with it. But his business is paying for a full license for him, so he gets all the benefits, and very few of the annoyances. He's readily admitted that, were that not the case, he'd be looking at FOSS alternatives himself.

Tossing in my vote for Proxmox. I'm running OPNsense as a VM without any issues. I did originally try pfSense, but didn't like it for some reason (I genuinely can't recall what it was).

Either way, Proxmox virtual networking has been relatively easy to learn.

Yep, until PhotoPrism revealed themselves to be the greedy cunts they are.

I sponsor my favourite tech projects annually, as I believe in supporting independent and responsible open-source development.

I became a paid Github sponsor for PhotoPrism because they promised features like multi-user were coming, and they indicated that paid sponsors would get access. After what seemed way too long a wait, they finally released the features many of us had been waiting for, only to stick them behind a monthly paid subscription. For self-hosted users. 🤨

So, I switched to Immich about 6 months ago. I've found Alex and the rest of the team to be very active, and quite responsive to support requests, including on Discord. Additionally, the development is fast-paced and new features are coming all the time.

My money's going to Immich. PhotoPrism can go get fucked.

I'll be the one that says it: just about anything the Catholic Church preaches about humility and sex.

Just gonna re-post my own comment from another thread in this community, relating to a similar article, because it's just as applicable here:

This is honestly hilarious to me. The streaming companies actually had it right to begin with. They delivered on-demand content at a much lower cost than DVD distribution, without having to negotiate with cable companies to deliver it. They had a working system that delivered value for money, and kept the profits in their own pockets.

Then they shit the bed. Classic case of killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. Greedy dickheads.

This is why I hate depending on cloud services for my home automation. The last one on my shitlist is my thermostat. Just haven't gotten around to researching options yet.

ROFL! I know it's not the case, but that was a bloody funny take all the same. Good one.

Aside from not wanting to send any traffic their way, this is another reason I've excluded Reddit from my private search engine's results. Reddit's value has definitely diminished as a direct result of the protest against the API changes.

I'm not having trouble giving up Reddit. I've given it up. And I've definitely noticed the lower volume of content here on Lemmy/the fediverse, but:

  • it's getting better pretty much daily; and
  • the percentage of good quality content here far exceeds Reddit, so I still feel better off.
