I wasn't afraid of the dark, nor was I afraid of aswangs, manananggal, etc.

No, my young dumbass was afraid of this (first 5 seconds pa lang tangina I was scared shitless (literally would cry sa first 5 seconds pa lang ng music). Never stayed to finish the intro, never even waited to find out what the hell this game was... until like I was 16 (ish).

I was really furious to find out SEVERAL YEARS LATER that this was not even remotely close to a horror game, but a fucking Mahjong game (Dragon's Eye Plus Shanghai 3). Really glad that no one really remembered from my circle of friends, or else they would have NEVER, ever let me live this shit down LMAO.

This was my #KidsAreFuckingStupid moment.

TIL of Silbo Gomero (informally called Silbo), a whistling language originating from La Gomera, part of the Canary Islands under Spanish rule.

Silbo/Sylbo language in action (link).

While the community of La Gomera speak Spanish, Silbo is a required subject for La Gomera students, and considered a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. They had to resort to such communication as the terrain (mostly ravines and valleys) usually made direct, face-to-face communication inconvenient and impractical. Think of it this way: going to your neighbor the next mountain over for some juicy Maritess time is tiring, so might as well whistle it instead!

The Silbo language was almost made extinct due to advancements in technology, but thankfully, government intervention has kept the language alive and well, albeit a small fraction of the whole Spanish population only using it (Canary Islands).

The whistled language replaces each vowel or consonant with a whistling sound: two distinct whistles replace the five Spanish vowels, and there are four whistles for consonants.

Although the Silbo language is basically Spanish converted to whistle, according to the teacher in the youtube video linked above, theoretically one can use their own language. Just apply the necessary phonetic/audio rules (sorry don't know the exact term) and you're golden.

Absolutely fascinating language based on sounds alone!

Have a great weekend mga Phlemmings.

whistles Magbalik intro in Silbo

EDIT: Holy Shit, Turkey also has such a language! It's called kuş dili literally Turkish Bird Language.

Vice has a mini-documentary on the subject. I've gotta say parang ibon talaga.

Absolutely fascinating.

Sana all EU citizen.

The European Council has officially declared that all battery-powered equipment must have removable, easily-replaced batteries by 2027.

The regulation provides that by 2027 portable batteries incorporated into appliances should be removable and replaceable by the end-user, leaving sufficient time for operators to adapt the design of their products to this requirement. This is an important provision for consumers.

Fuck yeah EU.

Android Authority article can be found here.

Hope a similar bill gets passed here. I'd love to go back to the days where I can keep my phone for a bit longer by giving it a new battery. Limited na nga mga firmware updates e, at least let us have this. Also, mga Samsung users can sort of have their worries eased when faced with a swollen battery.

Writers should at least get a fair share of the residuals (iirc residuals are profits from streaming services). South Park, late night shows, Daily Show, Mad TV, and SNL are few examples of how huge an impact a good writing team can have on a show, and I'm still only talking about comedy.

Imagine all of your favorite series' going the route of GoT's last season. That's what will happen when you remove humanity out of the equation for writing a show. Though, tbf, the writers were still human, just were not perceptive enough at the consequences of rushing the storyline at the time of the last season.

I'm guessing all big production companies are going long on AI, thinking that although writing will be terrible, it will learn and improve in the future. At least, that is my (wild) speculation.

AI may be perfect but it ain't human, and human is just how I like my shows to be.

Love the pixel art by Paul Sabado. Checked their IG, awesome photos as well.

Good call by the mod team to tap local artists. Unlocks a rabit hole to look at (and maybe purchase prints).

I wouldn't say I'm a fan, but I've watched a few videos of Ma Lin, Waldner, and Ma Long. Nakakaaliw tignan specifically yung Ghost Serve ni Ma Lin. Was a really mind blown moment to see high level Table Tennis plays sa YT. Tabletennis is fascinating!

Numbers.

Just count until the 30 mins. are up.

EDIT: Since you have to talk about it pala. Talk about a number and a thing (i.e. 1 ballpen, did you know that my first panda ballpen was blue? Blue is the warmest color, but why is it warm? How do you think it is warm? Then drone on from there. NOTE: People might beat you up for wasting their 30 minutes though.

While we're on the subject of logos, Please vote on which logo will be the next winner of 3 million pesos.

In the true spirit of ~~laziness~~ , ~~finger pointing~~ creativity that certain government agencies are known for, please note that ~~some~~ most visual elements are blatantly copied from here.

If any controversy is noted in the above images, automatic response to all controversy is:

Eh kasi this is a "mood ~~video~~ board with the intention of exciting super mega duper internal stakeholders with ~~lots of money~~"

A man and woman on discussing the font to be used for an invitation:

Man: Smth smth about font being too cursive, try a simpler straighter font for more readability.

Woman: Straighter? Baket? Di din naman tuwid ung [REDACTED] mo a.

Dayum that was a good clapback and got a good laugh out of that.

Magandang umaga mga Phlemmings!

LMAO, the Taliban endorses Twitter over Threads - LINK

Two Taliban officials even bought blue verification check marks after Musk started selling them in January.

Zuckerberg is clearly the Mullah Omar of this situation,” Shabanian said, referring to the founder of the Taliban and previous ruler of Afghanistan.. “You may not like him, but at least you know what you're getting. And it's uniform across platforms and districts. Unlike going with Musk, who represents a lawless, profit-driven society. Musk is all balls, no shaft, as the ancient Armenian proverb goes.

Aram Shabanian, some OSINT dude (open source intelligence aka publicly availavle info) dropping some 🔥 lmao

To all workers (WFH'ers, digital nomads, normal workers, etc.), students, and anyone who really just wants to have a more chill study/work environment,

I've come across lofi.co, which has a free version, a paid ($2.99) version, which basically offers you more visual stuff to help calm you down.

If you're tired of staring at Lo-Fi girl or Synthwave boy on Newpipe/Vanced and want a change of scenery, this is probably a good way to go. Try it free first, and I'd like also suggestions if anyone knows a few good sites/apps similar to this.

Have a chill evening mga Phlemmings, may we all find that sweet spot of chilness in our respective corners of the globe.

EDIT: Link. Also thanks 8rhn6t6s!

EDIT 2: Apparently you can use playlists from spotify too and you can choose between Jazz, Chill or Sleep themed playlists. Sadly, sound effects are limited to around 3 or 4 with the free version.
