Serious question since I don't use iMessage whatsoever, what's going on with the iMessage stuff? Seems like multiple companies recently have tried to make apps that connect to iMessage, but there's nothing I've heard about Apple opening that up. Did something happen for this to suddenly pop up more frequently?
Not so much an expert rather than just parroting what I saw, but according to a cursory search, and a Twitter community note I saw from a friend, the voice used by this project is Synthesizer V, which is actually a perfectly legitimate piece of software for using digital voices in music production. If you've heard of Vocaloid, or know about Hatsune Miku, SynthV is basically a competitor in that space.
Going back to the community note, the voice used is actually called Natalie, and apparently the TOS of SynthV does not allow use of its voices using a name that's different to what was given. So they essentially can't present the Natalie voice as Anna, which they are.
EDIT: I want to clarify that these voice synthesisers like SynthV and Vocaloid are usually based on the recording of someone who has consented to the use of their voice in that regard and has been paid for it. It's not like the current AI voice cloning trend going on.

This very Lemmy account is from embracing its domain name.
Sometimes I wonder what the big hold-up was. I remember NVIDIA wanted one type of renderer while the rest working on Wayland went the other way.
When I saw it I had to!
Man, now I wish the UK never left...
Some motherboards will actually try to install software when you install Windows. Recent ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards are known for this, however with ASUS I know you can disable it (source: own an ASUS motherboard, there's an option to disable the installation of Armory Crate)
If only Firefox's management had its head screwed on better. I really don't care about Turning Red themes, I have a KDE theme just to keep it matching my desktop. Just make the core browsing experience better. Hell, take some features from Vivaldi. I've noticed a good portion of Vivaldi users back when I used Reddit were former Firefox users, and I can understand why.
Microsoft hasn't exactly been sue-happy over update files AFAIK. Someone here can let me know though. There might be an issue with using the "Windows Update" branding though.
FWIW, there's also Legacy Update which does a similar thing for Windows 2000 and newer.
Well, we don't need to imagine; Genshin Impact already showed us.
