One thing I’ve noticed is that a ton of posts from the top 0.1% subs will get about three to four hours of thousands of updoots and comments and then get nuked by the mods with no reason given, pointing to it being bots. Like a few years ago it seemed like the repost bots were sneaking in and getting posts at the top to then be able to sell the account for someone else to bypass spam filters. Now it feels like the majority of top posts are that, and that anyone engaging in the top content is also grinding out the accounts that will be used to spam them at a lower level.

And it’s really making some idiotic points. Bees are cosmopolitan because of humans already, and when we grow flowering crops where they aren’t abundant we literally put them on a truck and bring them to the crops. Unless something to replace them is self-replicating, biodegradable, integrates with natural flowering plants, etc. etc. etc. it seems super conceited in the face of doing anything to actually stop neonicotinoids or bolster native pollinators.

My $2000 PC built a year before its release with no TPM will beg to differ.

Seen some people harp about not forgetting frozen vegetables can be cheaper than fresh depending on the season and close in nutrition and cooking results. That’s one thing about getting good deals, in groceries and in other things is you’re going to have to swap ease of buying for better deals at times and need to keep yourself aware of when that trade off stops being beneficial. My grandfather used to go to three or four stores depending on what the sales were. That sometimes meant riproaring savings from cherry-picked loss leaders, but I think most of the time it was something to do during the day with his grandson

The cockpit windows open on either side so that the pilots can clean the windshield easily on the ground, and then also to serve as an emergency exit with a rope ladder can be dropped out

I remember it just as 1x10 chains which is still esoteric and just to check the math on the conversion factor of 1 acre = 43,560 sq. ft.

I’ve always had the opposite, that a movie having a certain title absolutely destroys that term or phrase’s use unless all you want is that movie.

Most likely because the Hob series was like 15 years ago and this was a filler he deleted after archiving

This may come down to details of their policies and how they interact and support each department. If it’s for your official work, and I’d say start with a ticket and if they resist then push it up the flag pole and don’t stop. (Assuming you’re not one,) Your PI ought to fight like hell to make sure their employees can do their jobs, and the chair fight to make sure their researchers can run their labs, and the dean much the same, but throwing heavier punches each step up. Really shouldn’t get to that point, but if you can’t do your job, rattle the cages until you can.

Even some fucking light switches have them now!

Well... to be fair, one of the oldest operating light switches at my grandparents' was a bathroom light switch that had a light inside of it so the switch itself glowed. But it was soft diffuse light, not the glaring direct shine of and LED.

Do really feel you though. When I built my current desktop two years ago, the new case has the power and HDD lights on the top surface, and after I went to bed the first time without turning it off first, I noticed two spotlights being projected onto my ceiling. Turns out there is no diffuser or anything, just relying on the reflection off the sides of the recesses they are in to make the light visible when sitting next to the computer.
