My guess is that people disagree with propagating the delusion that pasting that link in every comment helps with stopping AI from feeding on your input.

Germany is so incredibly scared to be associated with antisemitism since WW2, they're willing to obfuscate and support the genocide of an entire nation. This is beyond despicable.

I've recently investigated my best friend Larry. He never pirated any video games ever. Pinky promise.

FOSS app locker (feddit.de)

I'd like to harden my device and put some of my apps (mail & chat mostly) behind an additional layer of security. I found this app, that comes pretty close to what I had in mind.

However, it hasn't been updated in 5 years and some options in the app are still flagged as in development. Anyone know of a maintained alternative?

Since I upgraded all my devices to KDE 6 I have this weird issue with my laptop and media PC. The software update icon that sits in the tray and starts Discover seems to think I'm using a light plasma theme. It's only this one icon, and it's the same for all icon themes. I do not have this issue on my desktop, which has the same updates (comparison in screenshot).

I have tried the following to no avail:

  • switching between multiple icon themes
  • switching between KDE light and dark plasma themes
  • deleting ~/.share/icon-cache.kcache

Anyone have any further ideas?

This whole thing is a perverted joke about our corrupted society. Billionaires drag each other to court over who gets to be even more of a billionaire while people working 2 jobs in that same fucking country can't make rent.

Redistribute those billions among the Tesla workers who actually did the work for fucks sake.

Does it work if you change your user agent?

Started to get this message when accessing Reddit. I use LibreWolf as a browser, which does indeed provide a more generic user agent to combat fingerprinting, but nothing out of the ordinary either (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/119.0). Anyone else experiencing this?

Edit: seems to have resolved itself. Thanks for confirming I wasn't doing anything wrong. Let's hope this isn't some new algorithm to test if for insufficient fingerprinting so Reddit can kick ad-resistant users.

When I finally switched from windows to linux a year ago, I read about timeshift and how it is basically windows restore points. So I installed it and played around with it but didn't really get it so I wanted to remove it. At that point I didn't really understand what symlinks are, and I just thought timeshift is just crappy bloatware that dumped a bunch of unecessary shit on my drive. So I sudo deleted that shit. Turns out that was a bad idea. That's the story how I nuked my first linux install.

The same 3 VPNs get recommended each time this question is asked:

  • Mullvad
  • Proton
  • IVPN

I recently was able to acquire an older Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130 with an Intel i3-4030Y and 4GB of RAM.

I installed Fedora GNOME spin thinking GNOME might be the right DE for touch interfaces. Sadly it behaves sluggishly and the touch capabilities are lacking. Nautilus for example can't deal with long clicks to simulate right clicks, making file browsing a chore since I need to plug in a mouse and keyboard.

Does anyone have any experience with older convertibles? What distro do you use to make use of the touch interface while keeping a snappy system?

I just rewatched Minority Report a couple weeks ago for some reason. There was this scene where Tom Cruise had to get a new set of eyes because he got automatically identified everywhere. Everyone in the movie was constantly bombarded with personalized ads everywhere they went.. That movie is over 20 years old and they knew exactly what was coming. Fucking scary shit...

I've installed Fedora 38 with an encrypted system partition since I'll be traveling with my device. OS is running fine but now I'd like to have a more human readable label in dolphin for that partition. All renaming attempts in the terminal with "e2label" and "btrfs filesystem label" failed. The KDE partition manager didn't help either. Disks at least shows me the option to add a label, but can't unmount the partition to do so (Error unmounting, udisks-error-quark, 14).

Does anyone have any experience and would like to share?

Article is from a renowned german IT centric media outlet. Topic is a new ruling that allows for government spying through trojan horses on the press. This ruling is highly alarming.
