It's still there, just not when the post/comment comes from the instance you're on. Even though the post is to a lemmy.ml community, it's from lemmy.world so that's where the fediverse link goes to.
I like in-person conferences. Online ones are okay for just giving/watching presentations, but you miss out on the random interactions with others in your field.

Wuh? In most of continental Europe, liberalism typically means classical liberalism, a right-wing ideology about laissez faire economy. The US has always been the odd one out in using it to mean socially liberal (see also the last paragraph here).
