I think it makes a bit of sense. All the characters are in a situation where they might get killed at any moment, either by the tadpole or in a fight somewhere, so maybe everyone is on edge and it's one of a few positive things they can grab on to.

I agree, there are plenty of other people from this generation capable of running government. It's time for these people who have been in power for over 30 years to retire.

The fact that testifying to Congress about their ethics issues is optional is crazy to me. He should have been required and there should be consequences for not doing it.
