Veritas is the latin word for truth. It's the root of the french "vérité" and the spanish "veridad". There is an entire world full of history and languages outside of the USA.

The South Korean government really doesn't give a crap about North Koreans. You should watch this documentary where you can hear them explain how they were treated.

The president of the Philippines is Bongbong Marcos, son of the former dictator Ferdinand Marcos. He was vice president since 2016, and then was elected president in 2022.

Also Duterte was notorious for extra-judicial killing of poor people that may or may not be involved in drug trades/consumption. So another reason to not praise him.

Their current president was Duterte's vice president, so yeah we shouldn't praise him.

It should be obvious to anyone that has ever read a Wikipedia page relating to geopolitics.

So the spelling is irregular, so what. You’ll be bad at spelling for a while.

People mostly learn languages by reading.

having to memorize arbitrary gender for every noun in the language, learn complex verb conjugations, polite and impolite forms and make every verb and adjective agree with the nouns in gender and number

If you mess those up, people will still understand you. Saying "un chaise" instead of "une chaise" doesn't change the meaning and everyone knows what you're saying.

However, if you learn english words through text and then try to use them vocally, nobody will understand you. (looking at you "beard", who isn't pronounced at all like "bear" for some reason)

There is absolutely no correlation between spoken and written english, so in practice it's the same as having to learn two languages at once. Even adult native speakers still aren't sure how to pronounce simple 1 syllable words such as "route" or "vase", that's pretty telling how confusing that language is.

Maybe they would be more on edge if Mexico was doing yearly military exercises with China at the Texas border, simulating an invasion of the US.

Oh wait, wrong country...

What does that even mean? What was said during that meeting? What guarantees did France offer Russia?
