I know Instagram puts it's content on Facebook to get people to sign up for Instagram. I know they're both meta.

It's pretty intrusive, but it's evidence that it works.

But I'm more on the lines of make more features

Idk how you exploit content. It's ussually the creators that get exploited. The idea is you put the content out there and put an impression on people so eventually they start thinking about them think about comming to Lemmy. I got nothing if you don't want to support x or twitter by crossposting from Lemmy.

I still say Lemmy/fediverse needs to build more niches community's up more than it needs to market so that way people stick around or engage more, so people don't drop off the platform from boredom

i actually believe lemmy should cross post to reddit, just so redditors can get exposure to lemmy. I got banned off of reddit years ago so I have little idea whats going on over there, i just see on lemmy that reddit has used ai based bots for moderating. I'm pretty much thinking of niche things to build up to help produce more content

hmmm ive been on fediverse for a few months so it seems stable with a fluctuations in activity

that source says that the fediverse has more MAU then other sources on fediverse stats.

Life is always preparing for the next cataclysm but fediverse is preparing for corporations hemorrhaging users. I keep looing at numbers and different sources show that there's a peak in MAU when Elon buys twitter, but then slowly falls over time. I'm curious if anyone has noticed a drop off, or if the peak had some crazy amount of posts and comments?

side note: I'm trying to help build up the fediverse streamer community get the people that want to watch streamer with people that want to watch streamer, but I have only noticed minor improvements. like streamers are connecting with other streamers, and one account has said that they got a boost. nothing to suggest that new members have joined from outside the fediverse streamer.

lol i wonder how much that is just guessing. they just coin flipped it

I'm looking at rss feeds for my city website and they're links to were you can get other rss feeds 😑. I would need that source code because I want to organize stores into appropriate communities

hmmm, most of the streamers dont have lemmy accounts or have posted anything on lemmy in a year. i reconverted by script for mastodon to lemmy script. that being said idk if i should include the handles or if i should do something else.

I though "my instance" was like saying "my server". I do see accounts with their own instances and he thought I did. I have separate accounts for accounts for separate things. id rather this account get dinged if i break rules than the account that I used to make the fedistreams community.

I started a c/ for owncast and peertube !fedistream@lemmy.world . so far its just been me and a bot generating content for it. the bot just post stats of who has the most hours streamed and most views, along with those that streamed most recently at the time a post was made.

I pinned a comment of a curated list of fediverse streamers (their stream url and mastodon handle), https://lemmy.world/post/26651394 . the list excludes and radio and TV streams and the streamers are people that you can interact with

Its a work in progress. but it should give more engagement with lemmy, also I am open to suggestions.

not something id want to do but id suggest a twitch community, since the twitch subreddit is a really big community

Truth is I have no idea what he's saying other than having an issue with my alt account using a bot to post to a single instance

Hmmm 1-2 per week. I patched my open source bot to post to Lemmy. The patch is for leaderboard for which streamer has the most streams and most hours streamed in the past week/day . I decided twice a day for that.

I guess I'll do 1 a week for my cities' community.

I am trying to build up fediverse streamers (a lot of owncast and a little bit of peertube) to add fediverse engagement. So I made a bot that post to mastdon of who streams the most, etc. I just made the community for the fediverse streamers. Hopefully it's more content for fedizens to interact with

So I purposed that for Lemmy and mastdon a bot that post links to YouTube videos and news articles relevant the city I live in, and I got push back on suggesting the idea. I suggesting this bot because my city isn't big enough to pump out content everyday and the links would seed content for a Lemmy community so that its not empty.

I have looked into city subReddit and for my city links to news stories are basically non existent and big city like NYC news article links are rare, but do get engagement.

I have been told that link bots don't help with empty communities and something about redundancy.

I do look at politics community and that's nothing but links.

I'm asking for general perspective from both sides

So I'm trying to workshop a bot that post news to accounts and communities based on American countries. I have looked into rss feeds and not every news source has one so it seems more like I have to go the scraper route. I decided to start with YouTube links because YouTube has an API and that would make it easy to get the information from. I'm hoping to make this open sourced, and im figure out a software structure.

The hole idea is to build up niches in fediverse to keep people retaining hopefully I can this program easy enough to use
