The problem I have with UBI is say I get a hundred bucks a week from it, there's not a single thing stopping my landlord, or my utility companies, or local supermarkets, or anyone in this godforsaken system from just raising their prices to siphon it all away.

We don't need universal income, we need universal services. Garaunteed housing, food, public transport, healthcare, everything needed to sustain atleast a basic standard of living so we're not constantly in fear of whether the last month of 70 hour work weeks is going to be enough to keep of the streets and keep food on the table.

With the proliferation of automated production combined with a rapidly increasing population, limiting the maximum work week (where practically possible), that employers could force employee's to take (so not including voluntary overtime), could be one of many possible solutions to rises in unemployment, by artificially increasing the amount of workers a business would need to hire to maintain productivity, while simultaneously allowing those workers a greater amount of time to themselves to do with as they wish.

AMD's your friend now, but they're only undercutting NVIDIA like this to get on top of the market. Once they've done that, it will be NVIDIA doing the undercutting, and AMD will be the one clamping down and exploiting their position.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!
