Some day you'll realize the world isn't so black and white and you don't always know what people have or haven't been through. You sound like the type that tells depressed people to just ""get therapy" or worse yet "just think happier", not realizing the hurdles both can have. With any luck, when you grow up you'll look back and realize what a heartless ass you were.
I'm just an outsider, never posted in here before, but I saw the old post and thought nothing of it other than "wild idea". Now I see this community being dragged as unhelpful or mean to newbies when that was NOT at all what I saw in that thread. Sure, a few usual WTF or "you might wanna change your input" responses but that's just how the Internet responds to unusual things.
Seriously, I had to go back to see if I missed actual meanness but I had to hunt for the thread, now deleted perhaps from embarrassment? Still, overall it looks like great responses until OP starts getting chippy, fighting users and just overall snarky. But hey, it happens.
But now, a full day later, the same OP makes a meme that continues to paint the base in a negative light AND is totally clueless as to why, with multiple disclaimers saying "no, I'm cool, this is fun!". This is the epitome of JUST STOP. You goofed, you did not read the room correct at all and now it's time to disappear, not continue to explain yourself as some misunderstood person who means well. Please, for the sake of the Internet, we get it.

They screwed with the algorithm years ago. It took about 4 hours for it to show up on /r/all via /r/Maine.
You're seeing that in-between moment when a wildly ignorant comment is upvoted to the top quickly but comes down slowly. It's still hot, but the OP has been downvotes far below most corrective comments.

This isn't quite as crazy as it sounds. Mythbusters did an episode years ago to prove that you.can actually "polish a turd", testing with various species of poop. If memory serves, Lion was the shiniest of the bunch. I don't recall if giraffe was on there but maybe she's onto something...
