They are just not arresting as many people and de facto legalizing more crimes. The NL is a hub for organized crime, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

Microsoft insists that these “smart shelves” will “delight the shoppers.

What parallel universe do the people who write this stuff live in?

I feel like I'm treading into a minefield here but anyway...

It wasn't unique in its goal but it was unique in its method. It was much more organized and industrialized than other genocides. Most were about bringing a group under control whereas the Holocaust was about eliminating a group.

I never answer unless I recognize the caller. If it is important they can leave a voice mail.

On the plus side I no longer get the weekly call from the Chinese lady.

I love my Subaru forester. It is nice enough inside to drive 4 people comfortably but with the back seats down and a tarp spread out I can carry a good sized load of mulch, bales, etc. I was even able to cram an 8 ft ladder into it with the passenger seat pushed forward and the ladder laid out diagonally. I've even slept in it. It has enough clearance that I can drive it on really rough forest roads to trailheads. I'm a big guy and it is much more comfortable for me to get into vs something like a Civic. My dad liked it a lot because with his very weak legs he could easily sit in it and swing his legs in and out. He liked it so much he even bought one.

If I ever need a truck I'll save myself thousands of bucks by just renting one for those rare times. I've done it at Lowe's and it was a no brainer.

These are cars that are sold on the idea of being able to drive off into the wilderness at a moment’s notice.

I suspect that is the selling point behind the majority of Jeeps with winches you see on the road that probably have never left pavement.

While I'm pronuclear we really need to invest in better nuke power tech. Spending billions, mainly due to the risks with current water cooled reactors, is handicapping it. Systems that minimize waste, use passive failsafe systems, etc are needed.

Your brain deliberately forgets trivial stuff. Do you really need to remember every lunch you had? Same goes for all the mundane stuff in history.

On the other hand so little of the mundane stuff was recorded that when we do see it it can be a window into how people actually lived, like Samuel Pepys diary. The daily stuff was so accepted as boring and common knowledge that it wasn't considered worth recording.

Americans are interested in American politics. Next thing you'll tell me is Europeans are interested in European politics. I never hear about Brexit...
