In fact, OP, I'm going to suggest a Youtube channel, but with some stipulations. Jackson Galaxy. He's an interesting guy who had (has?) a show on animal planet, but he has a really good grasp on Cat behavior. He get's a little weird with some of his homeopathic products that he has for sale that I'm a little skeptical of. But his cat behavior stuff all seems pretty spot on and his advice for cat care (As long as it's not about a product he sells on his site) is really good. It's worth a look I think.

That's awesome. Elantris doesn't get enough love from Sanderson fans, I think because his other work is so strong where in Elantris he was still finding his voice as his first published work. But I read it after books 1-4 of the Stormlight books and while it was clearly an early work and in comparison it's not written as "well," a lot of the key things are there. Compelling story, good character work, and compared to most fiction, really well written. It's just when put next to his later works it feels a bit "less." But obviously, his strength is really his character work, and some of them were a bit flat, but that villain... man that really showed what he can do with a character. And of course his story ideas are always just so unique and awesome.

And I don't know how much of Sanderson's background you know but it was the first Mistborn book that got him Wheel of Time. His telling of that story is actually really touching to me as someone who loves books and how they can affect people.

Several years ago, when I was still going into the office, I made a similar decision. I tossed all my old socks and bought like, 12 pairs of argyle socks in a variety of brighter colors and deliberately wore different colors every day. They're the same brand so they all wear the same, just sometimes bright green and orange(or whatever) on each foot. I got a few questions at first, though never negative. People thought they were being helpful letting me know my socks didn't match, but when I told them it was intentional they thought it was a great idea. Now it's expected for me to have mismatched socks and no one notices. Of course, being WFH now, I almost never wear socks anymore. But on the occasion someone notices these days, they don't really care.

Why do people always do that? I agree it would be a good move, but because smoking is unhealthy and addictive and it's existence in our society makes it collectively worse. But here I keep seeing people just say they're glad because they think cigarettes are icky.

My workplace switched from G Suite to all MS a while back. I was livid at first. MS Excel does have some good features that Sheets doesn't, and some of their formulas can be better functionally. But Google understands user experience better and it definitely runs more efficiently than Excel. Like, Excel, This workbook isn't set to share yet, it's entirely local. Why is every other window of Excel also updating every time I change something? They aren't affected!

Anyway, if possible, when I'm working on a really chunky workbook, if possible I'll do all the work offline in the app and everything else open in the browser. If I have to add it to a shared sheet, I'll just paste it in when I'm done and know it works. I work with excel lot, but it's mostly data sifting and I tend to use Excel in ways it was not designed for, so my formulas can get out of hand sometimes and be a bit much on larger sheets.

My immediate thought when I read the post title was of the old subreddit, r/thedonald. The intent was to be a place to sarcastically post "pro Trump" memes to make fun of him and his supporters. The outcome was that it was removed by reddit for being filled with Nazis and hate speech when actual Trump supporters just took over, flooded it with hate and racism.

I don't think one can ever really actually know intent, really, but knowing what a person states as their intent can be interesting. I just don't think it actually matters very much. Outcomes are what actually change things and affect other people.

That's literally all work in capitalism. You use your time and body to do things for other people in exchange for money. We're all prostitutes, only a few of us have sex for it.

Is it typical to give a whole run-down of your sexual history when dating? Like, I've mentioned previous encounters or exes when it comes up, but rarely near the beginning of the dating process. In my experience people tend to not have those discussions. Not because it's bad but because it doesn't matter. When I meet a new woman and start seeing them, I don't need to hear about or care about their past relationships unless it's something they feel they want to share for whatever reason.

It sounds like you don't think sex work is immoral, so I wouldn't bring it up unless it's something that would actually affect your current relationship. If sex is casual enough to commodify then it's not something that would be brought up when getting to know someone. Do you also give them a run-down of every meal you've ever bought at restaurants?

You realize that most actors and writers are barely or not at all paid enough to live. This idea of the rich and famous actor is an edge case that you're letting become your whole idea of them because they're exactly that. Famous. But even you have to realize that there are countless others that will be and currently are being affected by the things their striking against. For too many years already writers have been shafted by production companies by hiring them as short term contractors to avoid paying them a fair wage or give them an option for royalties. And when literally everyone in the industry is doing that, then they have no choice if they want to get paid at all.

And being mad because some high profile rich fuckers are participating is insane. Their participation shows just how important it is. They'll be fine. They have millions and they're still out there on the picket line anyway because the things the industry does and wants to make worse is bad for humans. That's what collective action is about and it's beautiful.
