Ah yes, a fine example of small government free market.

This is so stupid! I made use of this a couple years ago to replace some windows and install solar panels. This resulted in more than a dozen people coming to my home over several months doing various bits of work. Presumably they were all getting paid.

This wasn't free money and I do have to pay it all back. I would not have done the project otherwise. It made sense to me that at 0% I do get a slight discount taking inflation into account, but it was a good chunk of money injected into the economy now that was paid to Canadians. And, a bunch of that is going to make it back to the government in the form of income tax.

I don't understand why they'd cancel the program other than the government caving to conservative morons who bitch about spending and don't understand economics.

I'm cool with that.

And that's with some, frankly, terrible acting in the first season of B5!

Definitely check out The Orville. It took me a few episodes to realize that it is a comedy first, but after that the serious episodes felt strange to me 😅

I've just started season two and this is kind of how I feel too. It's not a bad show, but a lot of it is just mediocre. The characters are especially bad since they all feel like bizarre caricatures of Star Trek memes and the attempt at comedy often feels out of place.

The Orville, for all it's silliness, had much better writing and characters that actually felt genuine.

The show is entertaining enough for me to keep watching though.

My last experience with "AI" was last week with Claude where it tried to generate some Typescript that didn't even pass the type checker.

I guess we have a new domain for vibe coding.

This caught me by surprise too, but there is a ticket about it. Still a ways off fr being fixed I'm sure.

I've played a bit with iced but it seems like a bit of moving target and I'm not yet convinced by the ergonomics of Rust to describe a GUI. But it's OK I guess.

Slint looks interesting. I'm hoping to find some time to play with it soon. You can use it for free as long as you mention somewhere that your program uses it.

As a Canadian I am going to say this as politely as I can: "Get fucked!"

He once drove on the Trans-Canada highway

Reducing red tape by creating more bureaucracy and wasting money.

Please, go on! Or maybe there's a list somewhere.

I'd also like to know how much it costs to pass a law. How much was it to make it illegal for teachers to use a student's nickname? Or to make it illegal for a student to read 1984 at school (and then reverse it)? How much is it costing for them to discuss fucking with our pensions?

It's so infuriating!

Looks like it's out of beta.

From the article:

Within the restricted zones are hundreds of oil and gas facilities. One open-pit coal mine in the Rockies is before the provincial regulator and the expansion of another has already been approved. Much of the area has been extensively logged.

I'm starting to get into this band and I'm liking them so far!

In honor of Skinny Puppy's final tour, here's a video that's apparently from one of their earlier tours.

One of my favourite bands!

I love the way HEALTH mixes melodic vocals with some cool noise.

I like this album. I've heard they put on a really good live show too.

Does anyone know if the grievance is legitimate?

I just got the game and I'm not familiar with the history here, but I am using the original mod in question. I did verify the files as well and they are indeed the same.

I'm not even sure how to see if Donation Points are enabled on a particular mod or author's account.

I don't mind mod authors getting some kickback if that's an option, but taking someone else's work is rather poor.

Edit: Looks like this mod was now taken down.

Edit: There's a forum post from the author of the mod in question that mentions talking to the Nexus staff.

Hopefully this was all just a bit of unnecessary drama.

This was posted on Hacker News but I thought it was a really cool article explaining how Elliptical Curve Cryptography works.
