Sure .. but a single donut?

Honestly the process for getting reimbursed is annoying enough that I'm only going to do it for stuff that's more than $10. I don't need to be reimbursed often though

Welcome to most modern journalism! Remember when every news org started spending time going to Twitter to get the general population's reactions (instead of actually interviewing real people and figuring out how actually widespread a viewpoint is)? It's been downhill from there.

Combined with most people only reading headlines, news organizations almost never providing context for most actual facts, and wealth concentration like we've never seen, the current state of news media is pretty dire.

You can get people to assume almost any cynical worldview you want when you can chip away at their belief in humanity by repeatedly showing only the worst examples of it. This is what conservative news media has been so good at - getting them to believe a specific image of "liberal" and allowing that image to represent ALL liberals instead of just the most extreme side. Honestly, it feels like most people on the left are similarly starting to use dehumanizing language to describe conservatives. All this leads to people avoiding communication because they assume that everyone on "the other side" believes insane nonsense. Sometimes they do. A lot of times, they don't.

Most Bethesda RPGs are going for bredth instead of depth. They give you a giant world to explore and usually throw you into that world with complete freedom relatively quickly.

I generally agree that Skyrim (and Oblivion to be honest) aren't particularly strong games when you look at pretty much any individual system, and the games don't interest me much, but I totally get the appeal.

It's from Stargate, but I'm not sure the context of this specific image.

Until we can make crossing those lines painful for those companies, they'll keep doing it. Unfortunately, I think convenience is always going to beat morality if you leave it to "voting with your dollar", we need actual regulations from our governments to combat this shit.

Isn't that the status quo? I guess it's not really fathers to daughters, but most women I know went through some amount of "here's how to be a good wife" lessons from their mothers or family. I think women get a lot of "traditional gender roles" training that's mostly about being caretakers.

Usually people putting forth this kinda "women should learn how to care for their man" attitude are coming from a conservative "traditional family values" position.

Really, we should be teaching people how to ask about and learn the needs of their partner, and how to determine your own needs and communicate those to your partner. Basic emotional intelligence stuff. It doesn't have to be gendered at all.

Maybe, but to me it's voice chat + matchmaking.

I used to play on a few Day of Defeat: Source servers, and I met a ton of great online friends there. That's because they were dedicated and moderated servers that kicked and banned people for being assholes, in or out of voice chat.

But... If you're confident that you're never going to see the people in your match again, it's way easier to be assholes to them.

Somebody convince me I'm wrong.

There is no reason to display "100%" in your UI for more than a single second. Either show 99% and then finish, or show 100% only when you are ACTUALLY done and only show it for a little.

If you're still doing ANYTHING AT ALL don't say you're 100% complete. How is it still like this

Yeah, we really don't notice all the bullshit our parents deal with when we're kids.

Wait so an actual human person beat the level without TAS assistance? That's insane, I thought that they'd omitted the level because it was uploaded with a TAS, but the fact that a real person beat it is insane.

His stories are mostly over the top nonsense, but sometimes that's fun. Also, for a "AAA" studio director, he's willing to take some VERY big experimental swings when it comes to gameplay. Death Stranding has it's problems, but it's very unique. That's worth some points.

So while I generally agree with your sentiment, there are some obvious ways that sometime could be an ethical landlord.

What if you have a house that's too big, so you convert a floor into an apartment? You're adding to the number of housing units available. Should you be forced to sell a portion of your house/building to whoever wants to live there? Or should you be able to rent it out to someone at a reasonable rate? Do we want rules that discourage people from potentially adding units to the market?

I feel like the "all landlords are evil" narrative is way too simplistic, and that simplistic view turns off people who would otherwise support reasonable limits on landlords and housing ownership. Like, it's obvious that we need limits and taxes on people who own multiple properties, and it's obvious that there are companies that exploit renters and drive up prices, but it's all more complicated than just "landlords evil lol".
