As I understand, its an ATproto instance separate from Bluesky. Racially self segregated is a weird phrase and a wrong assumption. You don't to black to join but is a focused on black cultures and communities

fuck google!

Who can I donate to that is working on making alternative OS accessible on android or iphones?

I know there are alternative OS already out there but they aren't as universally accessible compared to how Linux can run on any PC.

As a non technical person, I think any tool that would make local hosting easier for laypeople like myself is great! I hope everything works out for you and localhostinger becomes a thing. I particularly like the "The app store idea" version a lot!

If I can share a few books I've really enjoyed:

So Long a Letter (1979) - Mariama Ba

The Old Drift (2019) - Namwali Serpell

Tekusat (ትኩሳት) (1997) - Sebhat Gebre-Egzhiaber

Things Fall Apart (1958) - Chinua Achebe

Patchwork (2011) - Ellen Banda-Aaku

The Wedding of Zein (1966) - Tayeb Salih

This is a good point. I wonder why this isn't the default

Bridges like Bridgy-Fed and others can connect Fediverse to interact with Bluesky from their Fediverse account. Bridges are an opt-in which I think its a great thing for privacy. But at the same time, I don't think the majority of Fediverse users who would be interested in using bridges know that they exist.

What I am suggesting is that large Fediverse instances (and Bluesky) encourage and make it easy to use brigdes by having an easy tool to turn on or turn off bridges.

An example situation could be when someone creates an account on mastadon.social, a small pop up shows ups explaining what bridges are in two-three sentences, and has a recommended bridge to use along with a drop down of other options to choose from, and ask it they would like to bridge or not like to bridge.

The videos for FediCon 2025 are going to uploaded to the following PeerTube account:

I have almost subscription on Mastodon too. But I've put in a separate list so I can see all the peertube updates in one place

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I will give Peertube picks a shot. I agree with you on word of mouth, so far I'm finding things through suggestion on here and Mastadon.

I know the app has a "hottest" section but its doesn't update regularly and seems a bit random. Am I using it wrong? Do you have other methods you use?

Did this actually happen in the show or is it just a meme? Either way it's hilarious!

I'm surprised that its only 30 microns. The current govt seemed very adamant about removing plastic shopping bags waste. Although in my experience the most common shopping bags in the Ethiopia are much thinner than other countries (I would guess that they are probably only 30 microns) it would just mean the plastic producers would just shift to creating thicker bags

Neil DeGrasse Tyson has a Phd in astrophysics and he has published a lot of papers. He is a scientist and a science communicator. Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye are not the same.

BRUSSELS, May 15 (Reuters) - Social media app TikTok was charged by EU tech regulators on Thursday with breaching EU online content rules, putting its owner ByteDance at risk of a fine of as much as 6% of its global turnover.
