I like the idea of Kirk pulling out his wallet to try and chip in for beer and pizza in 1986 with a couple strips of latinum, some Klingon darseks left behind on the Bounty, and whatever Federation credits he has, which I assume are a digital currency.
They do 100% use money in the 23rd century! 24th century is a bit more debatable, but I'm still on the side of they use money.
Worf's Purple Space Bazooka is my new band name.
Yeah, I think "The Void" is probably a top ten VOY episode for me because of how it shows Janeway's inclination towards coalition building being successful. That is a quality I like in a Starfleet captain, but too often in VOY, the plot is about how Janeway and Co. get betrayed by someone they had entered into an agreement with.
The big one -- relatively speaking, of course -- in my mind is the site to site transporting.
In “Day of the Dove”, Kirk asks Spock, ”Intra-ship beaming, is it possible?” and Spock rattled off a litany of reasons why it was considered too dangerous in all but the most necessary circumstances.
However, we see in Disco, starting with “Context is for Kings”, that they can just order the computer to transport them from one room of the ship to another without hesitation.
It’s a minor quibble all things considered. And clearly something most of the Disco detractors aren’t even aware of.
In that case, this episode needs another appearance of Runa Ewok.
Okay, but what if they'd kept the version from the Short Trek?
You know what the funniest part of your little tantrum is? I bet if you checked your language setting, and choose both "English" and "Undefined" you'd find that there's multiple posts per day, and you just haven't seen them because you couldn't figure out how to set up your account.
Anyways, enjoy your time out.
Hey there! So it looks to me that your issue here is two fold.
First off, you seem to believe that there's not enough new daily content, and that the lemmy community is somehow "dying" because of that. Obviously activity in a small group of 6.5 k members (when did that happen, I could have sworn we were still at 2k) is going to be somewhat less than the 620k subscribers to the reddit sub. It is simply the nature of any form of social media going back to the BBS groups and chat rooms of the mid-90s that the majority of people are going to lurking as opposed to posting and commenting. That's perfectly fine.
And the second problem is loyalty to a specific social media platform.
So, how do we solve these issues?
For the first, be the change you want to see in the world. If you don't think there's enough interesting discussion happening, feel free to post something that would potentially generate some discussion. Lurking is fine, but if you're going to complain that there aren't enough contributions, than it is on you to contribute.
As for your apparent feelings that everyone should scamper back to reddit for the reason outlined above. And really, the only way to fix that is if you go outside for a walk.
Anyways! Consider this an official mod warning. If you want to post about Star Trek, feel free. If you want to be a weird little troll, no one here is interested.
So this episode could have happened before 2024.
The bridge that the Romulans attacked does not exist and is not in construction. Granted, Star Trek is not real, but the contemporary episodes are at least intended to mirror reality.
I'm assuming Sera was generalizing when she said it had been 30 years, but it's entirely possible that I'm wrong.
While David Gerrold canonised the “T” as standing for “Tiberius” in “Bem”, we did know that his middle name started with the letter “T” as far back as “Mudd’s Women” IIRC. You undoubtedly already knew this
I actually was not aware of that! Interesting that “Where No Man Has Gone Before” and “Mudd’s Women” had different middle initials for Kirk considering the later was originally conceived as possible second pilot as well. Too bad “The Omega Glory” didn’t also get in on the game.
October 5 Prompt - Time Travel
This is my favourite one, so far. I was honestly at a bit of a loss as to what to do for the prompt originally, but then I thought about just drawing the Guardian of Forever and calling it a day. That led me to drawing Carl from Disco, and trying to do that in an LDecks style, which in turn led to the headline in The Star Dispatch about Boimler getting snacked upon by a tyrannosaur.
