Poilievre's decision not to go through security screening means that no one in the party is in a position to act on the intelligence or challenge its accuracy, said Trudeau.

"The decision by the leader of the Conservative Party to not get those classified briefings means that nobody in his party, not him, nobody in a position of power knows the names of these individuals and can take appropriate action," he said.

"It also means nobody is there to stand up for those individuals if the intelligence is shoddy or incomplete or just allegations from a single source."

I suggest cross-posting this to c/startrek to get maximum eyeballs on it.

That rather ignores the fact that Adira was an amnesiac stowaway at the time, with some pretty understandable trust issues.

It also ignores that the characters in the scene in exactly the way you're saying they should have.

I disagree - you dislike TNG for completely different reasons.

Well if the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says it, it must be true.

Pretty efficient, keeping the sandworm on the inside.

Spock flat-out said it at the end of "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2", albeit with a focus on the time travel shenanigans of the second season:

Regulation 157, Section 3 requires Starfleet officers to abstain from participating in historical events. Any residual trace or knowledge of Discovery’s data, or the time suit, offers a foothold for those who might not see how critical, how deeply critical, that directive is.

Therefore, to insure the Federation never finds itself facing the same danger, all officers remaining with knowledge of these events must be ordered never to speak of Discovery, its spore drive, or her crew again, under penalty of treason.

Of all the new series, Lower Decks has been perhaps the most consistent - seasons 1-3 premiered in August, while season four premiered in early September.

This pattern may or may not hold.

Caves really are the worst, though.

I think there are two big elements that made this episode as successful as it was:

  1. Taking ongoing SNW storylines like Spock/Chapel seriously, and not using them as punchlines.

  2. The unexpected delight of the Enterprise crew fanning out over the NX-01 era, holding a mirror to Boimler and Mariner.

Both of these elements were welcome, and helped keep the episode grounded.

Rigel VII was first mentioned in “The Menagerie, Part I”.

I would be so mad were it not for the fact that "The Cage" first aired in '88.
