Ubuntu... But I just realised I've been ransomwared.

Guess I'm spending my Monday recovering from backups. Fun fun fun!

Over night, Plex has decided that it can't see any of my library files for movies and TV shows. They were fine before, they have been for years. Only music is unaffected.

I get a message saying "movies is empty. Expecting more? Visit the manage libraries page"

I've tried creating a new library pointing to the same directory, but that one shows the same error in the end.

Had a look on the forums, but not found anything relevant

The point should be to bring everyone up, not pull others down, though

My friend, you are one of today's lucky 10,000. Check out James Hoffman. He's great!

Obviously, we all love James, but is there anyone else you subscribe to?

Personally, I watch Lance Hedrick. I like what he does, but his vids tend to be super nerdy, so might not be everyone's cup of tea

Everyone keeps saying it's the best media player, so I'm interested in getting one, but I haven't had a google account for many years now and don't want to create a new one just for this.

Does anyone know if it's possible to run one without a google account?

Edit: I would only want to use it for Plex and maybe youtube

Basically the title.

I remember them being extortionately expensive when they came out, but was surprised that they're "only" $80 with a puck screen, which seems fairly reasonable.

Just curious if people have tried it and whether it's worth it.

Copied from a reddit comment to save others a click through:

Just to make this slightly easier to find. You can opt out of the settings with the following:

Go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/profile/edit

Click on "Privacy Settings" at the bottom of the page

Dialog pops up where you can change stuff to private

The longer version is as follows, if you want to find the setting more organically:

Go to https://app.plex.tv/

Find "Discover" in the left hand bar, either it's pinned or under "More" -> "Plex" -> "Discover"

Click "Edit Profile" button

Click on "Privacy Settings" at the bottom of the page

Dialog pops up where you can change stuff to private

This was a well written and interesting piece from someone who knows about the subject matter. What a refreshing piece of content. Thank you for sharing

I recently broke my coffee carafe, so I'm on the market for a new one, and I was hoping to get some recommendations from people on here.

Preferably, it would be a double walled glass one, but I've really struggled to find many options. I've only really seen one offering from fellow, which is just a bit small for my needs, since I usually brew about 700ml. There's also the fact that it's quite pricey...

Anyone have any experiences with it? Is it actually worth it? Are there other options that fit the bill? Am I looking for the wrong thing entirely and maybe you can tell me why

I currently have my Plex server open to the world. I realise that's probably not best practice, so I'm trying to find a solution that can work for me.

I've been looking at cloudflare tunnels and it seems like thats probably what I want. Giving me access to my home server from outside. And it's free, which is a nice perk

I've noticed however that the terms of service don't allow for video streaming, but is allowed in the paid tier. Before I commit to spending money, I'm curious if it's even technically possible. Plex tends to phone home to allow users to authenticate and locate their servers, so is that possible through tunnels?

Is this a waste of time? Is there a better solution? How are others dealing with this problem?

Where do I find a high res version of the Binks art?

Especially given the fact that France tried talking Russia out of invading before the war and they still went ahead with it. So it's not like the security council sat around and watched it happen.

I have a phone with a Spanish Sim, but when I'm abroad, I still get websites redirect me to the Spanish version, when I'd prefer to see the local one. This happens even when I'm on WiFi, but I'm guessing it's something to do with my Sim?

Does anyone know how they do this, and if there is a way of overriding it?

Digital market act https://digital-markets-act.ec.europa.eu/index_en

Chat apps are only part of it. It will force iOS and android to offer competing app market too.

The EU is forcing the big chat companies to open their gates. They have until April of next year to comply, so we might see a common protocol for chat pretty soon
