This has been asked before, obviously, but I haven't really seen it in the specific context for my situation.

I pay for a seedbox and have used up more than half of the space with files I've downloaded and have continued to seed. A mix of public trackers and private ones. I usually only delete something I'm seeding if it's been a few months and there's a lot of people contributing to it, mostly to keep space for the things I like.

The problem: I'm running very low on space and it looks like I'm the only one seeding some things (there's a 0 under seeds, so that's just my assumption). There's also some big files (20+gb) that don't have a lot of other people seeding them. My ratio for some of these things is really good, but some it's basically nonexistent because no one else is downloading it.

Obviously, I'm going to have to give up some of these at some point because paying for more storage isn't an option (I'm actually trying to downgrade if I can) and if no one wants these things, there are other things I could devote that space to instead right?

So basically, for perspective, when do you personally decide that it's time to let a torrent go?

For more context, the most seeds one of my files has is 16 and my highest ratio is ~60.9. These are two different files.

I download torrents on my Samung Galaxy Note20 but it's odd in that when I have downloads running in the background they tend to download alot slower than if I have the app open on my screen.

Like I could be downloading at 1mbps but as soon as I put the app front and centre it'll gradually (over the course of about 10 seconds) go up to 6mpbs and stay there so it's significant.

I know download speeds can change drastically but I've noticed this for months and 'tested' it as much as I can.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to it? I'm thinking maybe android has some sort of restrictions maybe if an app is running in the background it'll throttle it but not sure.

Thanks

So I have these fully downloaded files sourced from a torrent, and I wanna seed it. I found its magnet link from a DHT crawler. The problem is I cannot even retrieve its metadata to start seeding it, possibly because it has no seeders/peers left. Is there still any chance reviving a torrent when I have the complete files? I downloaded the files through DDL a long time ago.

To my understanding, I can initiate connection to and download from people who have their ports open without any issues even when my ports are not open. But can I also seed to those people?

In other words, when I have 100% of the file, will my torrent client (qBittorrent) actively initiate connection to people with open ports who want to download from me, but couldn't otherwise connect to me, because my ports are not open? This way, when I initiate the connection, the two way data transfer should work and the person should be able to download from me.

Sorry to be a bother, however for some reason, when we try and open Bigly, it instead opens Vuze.

this change happened on its own, and we're unsure how to reverse it.

does anyone know what can be done to fix it?

Bigly was set to be the default one, and its what is pinned to the taskbar so it can't be a misclick.

I'm not a fan of having scroll bars only appear when my cursor is hovering near/on the area - how do I change the theme/appearance/whatever to have the scroll bar always there?

I'm aging, my brain and eyes aren't going to get better, and the classic windows-ish interface is much easier on me :(

The original post: /r/torrents by /u/radiatejuniorrr on 2024-11-05 20:20:37.

Zbigz is down (gone?) (zerobytes.monster)

I’ve been using zbigz.com for years to download torr magnets onto my devices. Now it looks like it’s down or possibly gone forever.

What other similar sites are out there?

Thanks

So I'm using proton vpn p2p server and I get 100mpbs download speeds (which is the same as without a vpn on all my devices) but as soon as I start downloading a torrent it slows down to 5mpbs download. Does anyone know how to fix this?

So basically this specific thing was hard for me to find and there arent that many seeders, if i like move this on to a drive, can i just put it back into the same folder and it would start seeding again like normal? like if i dont change the name or anything. like will it just always recognize that file name and content on my computer?

I have been working on a project that will allow secure and anonymous torrenting without the use of a VPN, TOR, Proxy, or I2P. This is a completely new protocol, utilizing an onion based approach for peers connecting to each other.

I'm currently looking for people who are interested in this open source project, I have already completed:

DHT, Bootstrap, Bencode, UPnP libraries along with partial completion of the Rust, Java, and Android applications.

  • I will be hosting 3 BootStrap nodes via my 3 blade servers.

  • I will be hosting some trackers

  • No libraries used within any of the code except for LibC

If you are interested DM me.

  • Languages: Rust and Java

  • Websites: EJS
