I can only dream Christianity to have stopped at 12 people!

In many instances it can be argued that the decisions they make are not good for the business either, at least in the mid- to long-term.

  • What's good for ~~business~~ stockholders is generally not what's good for society. FTFY

NVIDIA is already paying podcasters and YT channels to cover Isaac and Jetson, so I guess the shovel seller is already seeing itself out.

I lately got to gauge my "market value", having understood that, in the natural equilibrium of giving and taking, I had definitely been selling myself short.

I decided to cut down on my participation to all kinds of events and initiatives that would have me as an active element and even some in which I perceived to be a passive one, turning out I was often wrong about it.

In some circles, silence will be the outcome, and you can then start to drop in consciously until equilibrium is reestablished. In others, people will surprisingly cry out for your participation, voice, insight or whatever else you brought to the table.

The absolute plus is having a lot of time (and often money follows) freed up, which you can use to invest in yourself, which in turn brings up your value in other's eyes (I am dieting with the help of a professional right now).

Tuta does.

Israel should go back to sound as the bad idea it is.

Italy's songs are such shit with the exception of Måneskin, that I don't think anyone would miss us.

I want to know what France does.

They should really say that they will pull out of the show if israel and the zionists are allowed to sponsor the show through Moroccanoil and Estee Lauder.

THAT would hurt.

Proper action on the day in which we all remember the assassination of Salvador Allende at the hands of the CIA.

[–] biofaust@lemmy.world 18 points 6 days ago

I did the same and using Windows at work is slowly becoming unbearable.

[–] biofaust@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

Moroccanoil pays for the show since many years, and it is an Israeli company. MAC Cosmetics is another main sponsor too and it is owned by Estee Lauder whose founder is the President of the World Jewish Congress and an extremist zionist.

Everyone should boycott it even Israel does not participate.

At the very least we should be organizing "very loud" protests in all the major EU cities on the finals.

All involved sponsors are or should be added to BDS lists.

I love Batman (currently replaying the Rocksteady games for the 3rd time) and I grew up with him and cannot really relate to Superman since I am not a farm boy. But it is very easy to see how Batman is in fact a fascist-capitalist fantasy.

A rich man who takes things in his own hands on a whim, infiltrating public order tech, hoarding personal data on virtually everyone in Gotham (at least) if not resorting to real-time surveillance by infiltrating personal devices (in The Dark Knight).

The idea that he "does good" by deciding a subset of all possible activities on which to spend his money and never spends himself on releasing that decision power to the public is exactly what brought the US where they are and what they hate viscerally about the EU (even if the sliding is real here as well).

I tried all of them and they all fail at startup with this error in the log:

/home/xxxxxx/Games/Heroic/Bio Menace/dosbox/dosbox_x86_64: error while loading shared libraries: libFLAC.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I do have libFLAC.so.12.1 so I tried creating a symlink in the game folder or in the DOSBox one within, but no luck, still same error.

I have DOSBox Staging installed and FlatSeal set up as per documentation.

I can play the game in DOSBox Staging, and they work fine in that case.

Installing Windows versions makes them work from Heroic, but while Bio Menace for example works well, Cannon Fodder has no music, even after setting up the Soundblaster to IRQ7 (as suggested on the forums).

UPDATE: leeching on the Discord (it makes me feel dirty even to name that piece of crap) I found this, obviously unstructured, thread in which the Heroic dev says that Linux versions lack the metadata for GOGDL to use DosBox Staging, ending up relying on the native version. Meanwhile, Windows installations have no DOSBOX folder, so adding even an empty dir solves failed starts in that case.

I have not rewatched much and I prefer the Monster of the Week episodes, but I remember a scene from an X-Files Mythology episode in which Mulder does a quite theatrical reveal in which a document that someone wanted destroyed and lost to memory is passed via the oral tradition of a Native American tribe in perpetuity.

I cannot find any proof of it existing, nor can my friends, such that we are starting to fear Mandela Effect.

Can you help with at least the name of the episode if not a link to the scene itself?

I'm starting to play with an old laptop that I have installed Ubuntu Server on, with Nextcloud and Docker.

Using Docker Compose I installed Nginx and now I would like to try to do the DDNS thing on a domain that I registered with an Italian provider.

I looked at a few DynDns providers and they seem to me to be all American or in any case on American infrastructure (DuckDNS on AWS, etc)

Is there anything you can recommend that is EU-based and who has a good reputation in general?

Free is preferred.

I have just watched this video and in it 2 things are said that made my Linux newbie heart sink:

  • Debian 13 is not going to get the latest versions of Nvidia drivers and there are better distros for us.
  • Debian in general is not meant to run on the latest hardware.

I am on a regularly upgraded desktop tower gaming PC and currently I have an Nvidia card and an Intel CPU (which, I know, even just because of the mobo chipset is not a great choice).

In this conditions and wanting to invest even more in gaming and new hardware in the future, what should I run on, instead of LMDE 6?

I am looking for a good fitness tracker to start doing cardio in a more measured way.

I was interested in Polar and Oura as EU alternatives (both Finnish companies), but both send data (health data, which is sensitive according to Article 9 of the GDPR) to AWS.

Are you aware of any EU solutions, or at least non-US, Chinese, Russian, or Israeli solutions, that do not send my data to companies in those countries?

I would like to be able to organize something self-hosted, but I don't think I'm capable of doing that yet.
