I started getting the dreaded anti-adblock pop-ups on Youtube when they started ramping up their efforts a month or so back, and I initially went through the whole rigamarole: First it was just the pop-up, then it was the pop-up with the timer, then the 3-video countdown finally leading to the video player being disabled outright.

Throughout all of this I did the recommended Purging All Caches -> Update Now routine on the Ublock Dashboard at least once a day to keep the pop-ups away, but when it got to the player getting blocked it didn't seem to work anymore. Since I'm on Firefox, I experimented using Containers and found that I could just log in to my YT account on a different container to keep using Youtube until that container started getting blocked.

In the past few weeks I've noticed no issues though apart from having the video player blocked once, which was fixed by purging all caches and updating and I almost forgot about the whole anti-adblock thing altogether. It does seem like YT pages are loading slightly slower than they used to though.

Are you still having issues with Ublock on Youtube or were you even affected at all?

I'm assuming this will escalate to some insanely locked down DRM scheme. Guess I'll enjoy uBlock, ReVanced and yt-dlp while I can

They're just being dicks considering how tiny the Firefox userbase is

I fully expect to have to be fingeprinted, DNA tested and retinal scanned to access cOnTenT in a year or two

Yup, I'm pretty sure tons of liberals believe this completely uncritically and don't even think about it

Not sure how things are in Austria but where I live fast food is really expensive for someone strapped for cash

Apparently American Reddit has been plastered with ads from a billion-dollar Evangelical Christian campaign for months and Jewish, LGBT amd atheist users have been especially targeted

Religion and Politics were categories you could not opt out of

Why is there no seekbar and why can you only pause?

Why does scrolling up or down on the mouse wheel bring up another video?

Why is it siloed off into its own thing anyway? They're just short videos.

L4D2 is such a timeless classic that the only thing that its imitators could do was dilute the formula with leveling and progression nonsense

The Titanic is a legendary ship, but it wasn't a very good ship

When I want to type a special non-English character like Ø, on my Android phone I simply long press on "o" on the keyboard and it brings up every variation of the letter o you could think of.

On Windows, the best you get is "please memorise this giant list of four number codes". If I'm going to have to google the code I'm probably just going to copy the letter and paste it into whatever I'm writing.

Why not add them to the damn emoji menu (Windows key + .)

The author points out that Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript, co-founder (and ex-CEO) of Mozilla, and founder of Brave, donated 1,000 USD in support of a proposition to ban same-sex marriage.

My impression was Brave got started after he got hoofed out of Mozilla or left on his own accord after the backlash for showing his ass to be a homophobe. Redditor types were of course very angry about this blatant disregard for frozen peaches and jumped onto his new venture in droves

Here's hoping uBO manages to stay on top of the adblock arms race after this shit gets rolled out to everyone 🤞

It seems to be happening to people regardless of the browser they're using. Google's currently only testing the new measures on random accounts

Can't wait until Google flips them on globally for all users doomer

The latter option does leave you with the game in your Steam account though, which is infinitely more convenient than downloading a repack made by some Russian somewhere in 15 parts from 5 different filesharing websites

...I mean, I assume. It's not like I've ever bought a game... or several games... from resellers side-eye-2
