Just showed this to my 15yo daughter over the weekend!

Still good but it's starting to age

[–] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 2 points 15 hours ago

I wonder what that was about - some sort of classification issue, or just having problems pinning them down?

Thanks that was amazing.

Worth it just for the roundabout tomfoolery!

Just delightful

Its 2025, sorry.

LBS has pointed out it's a boost frame but not a boost hub - whoops!

Its good to be humble, I guess

This looks interesting - have you compared it to 2fas, by any chance?

So it gotten worse :)

I've realised after taking the wheel off that the rotor has been skimming the brake adapter and the bolt washer is also skimming the rotor. So I'm guessing the way the hub has "swollen" has flared out the stays slightly and skewed everything off 😐

I'm not sure if I've fallen for it like an idiot or if you guys are just amazing at finding what you're looking for

I'm not sure how this happened but it explains why my shifting has been awry lately!

What I don't understand is how there's any room without "flaring" the stays of the frame outwards? It looks like the hub shell and body are separating, as well as the cassette and hub 🫤

This is an aggressive hardtail I've been having a ball on after having my full squish stolen, but I was confident the cassette and spacings were OK as i built it under the guidance of my pedantic mechanic friend (gosh, I'm hitting the stereotype, aren't I?)

Our main trail we ride regularly crosses a river a dozen times, so I hate to think what's going on with the bearings in there!

So I'm curious if anyone had thoughts in how I'd hit this wrong (going by the pic alone, it looks almost like I've put non-boost parts into a boost frame, but thats mental and it was snug and fit right - there was no loose play. Yet, here I am...)

Also, since the bearings are essentially exposed and I don't know when it started, it might have been like this for a while? Certainly shifting has been something I've put up with for some weeks now... So what damage am I incurring when I've been riding on it?

Sinking of the Rainbow Warrior (1985)

On this day in 1985, the French government, in an act of state-sponsored terror, bombed the Greenpeace-operated boat Rainbow Warrior, which was en route to protest a nuclear weapons test planned by the French state. The bombing, later found to be personally ordered by French President François Mitterrand, killed a freelance photographer on board named Fernando Pereira.

France had been testing nuclear weapons on the Mururoa Atoll in French Polynesia since 1966. In 1985 eight South Pacific countries, including New Zealand and Australia, signed a treaty declaring the region a nuclear-free zone.

Since being acquired by Greenpeace in 1977, Rainbow Warrior was active in supporting a number of anti-nuclear testing campaigns during the late 1970s and early 1980s, including relocating 300 Marshall Islanders from Rongelap Atoll, which had been polluted by radioactive fallout by past American nuclear tests.

For the 1985 tests, Greenpeace intended to monitor the impact of nuclear tests and place protesters on the island to observe the blasts. Three undercover French agents were on board, however, and they attached two limpet mines to Rainbow Warrior and detonated them ten minutes apart, sinking the ship.

France initially denied responsibility, but two of the French agents were captured by New Zealand Police and charged with arson, conspiracy to commit arson, willful damage, and murder.

The resulting scandal led to the resignation of the French Defence Minister Charles Hernu, while the two agents pleaded guilty to manslaughter and were sentenced to ten years in prison. They spent a little over two years confined to the French island of Hao before being freed by the French government.

In 1987, after international pressure, France paid $8.16m to Greenpeace in damages, which helped finance another ship. It also paid compensation to the Pereira family, making reparation payments of 650,000 francs to Pereira's wife, 1.5 million francs to his two children, and 75,000 francs to each of his parents.

Silly question: Having CNAMEs for A records just makes sense, but why can't we have a PTR redirect?

Really thats all...

Auth plz

Riding into work yesterday, somehow while upshifting my chain slipped off the smallest cog onto the frame and hopped off the jockey wheel in the derailleur - all very drastic, but it suggests to me the derailleur twisted?

Historically getting down out of the 9th or 10th gear would need 'a little extra thumb' past the shifters click, that now seems to be the case for the top few gears - but the rest of the 11 speed cluster works great still

Does this sound more like I've worn the cogs somehow or twisted / bent the derailleur?

If it was bent, I thought it would affect all shifting...

It's a shimano HG 11 speed with their reasonably recent chain that's supposed to be really long lasting (possibly intended for e bikes? Mines an old analog, mojo geometron)

I should really double check what the parts are (being a Muppet), and get a photo of the alignment, but I'd love to be able to something on my own before wheeling it into the LBS

This is a phenomenal (but short) album, has anyone got other equivalent they're sleeping on?

bandcamp

It's very proggy, which I love, but also very heavy. Super-tasteful use (sparse!) of blast beats, etc

A sign for cyclists indicating to perform a hook turn with graffiti "abolish all forms of government"

Dunno why, it just seemed funny

I'm delighted about the chance of this even happening. I'm under no illusions, however after the abortive duopoly review of our supermarkets. But this isn't comcom and had a clearer harm to the community, so maybe it'll happen?

God, I'd love to see it revoked entirely, but maybe there'll be some clearer oversight...

The company said it had invested significantly in systems to maintain the highest standards of host responsibility best practice, and prioritised minimising the impacts associated with problem gambling.

As. If.

With Sir Peter Jackson and Dame Fran Walsh buying the land, that seems like a surprisingly agreeable outcome...

Thoughts?

So I've got some rusty old floor screws that I can't loosen with a Phillips head (they're old, so I'm betting it's not posidrv). The notches are all rusted and it hardly bites at all.

If I drill them out, I know I'm in for a hard time but am I better off going for a really fast rotation or slower?

And should I start with a narrow drill bit and work my way up (historically I've broken a few doing this in the past) or just begin at the intended diameter?

Yes, in fact I do work with computers - isn't it obvious?
